Fenix is a great bang for the buck. You set on 200ish lumen? The 100 lumen, AA model is the LD10 and goes for $40 at the river merchant, vs the $55 price of the PD22.

General Mode - High (45 Lumens, 4 hr 40 min) - Mid (13 Lumens, 11 hrs) - Low (3 Lumens, 70 hrs) - SOS (45 lumens)
Turbo Mode - Turbo (100 Lumens, 1hr 45 min) - Strobe (100 lumens)
 
Thanks, I'll check out the LD10. Most of my thinking on 200 lumens comes from the desire to destroy someone's night vision, if the need were to arise.

I just put down cash on the Springfield XD-s. 48-hours cooling off period is ticking. I think I'll be just as excited on Saturday as I was today.

100 lumens is plenty to eff up night vision.

Story time!

About a year back I was watching a movie with my wife and eldest daughter. 5 minutes into the actual movie, the rowdy kids (15-17 year olds) behind us were still loud. My daughter (14ish at the time) kept shh'ing them. Eventually, one of the "bad asses" loudly said "You f**king shh!" and his little troupe starting laughing. I stood up, turned around, and presented him and his cronies with 100 lumens of the LD10 on turbo as I studied their faces. I asked them "Seriously?" as and had the beam into their eyes for a few seconds each. After making sure I could remember their face (and making sure the whole theatre could witness someone calling them out on their rudeness), I sat back down.

I heard them grumbling a bit, saying they couldn't "see sh*t". They left the theatre shortly after.

I took the picture with my iPhone and the HDR setting was on so sometimes the colors are a little more vivid. No photoshopping though...just a really photogenic place.

liking the look of that pd22 also -- have had good performance out of my LD10, but 3v behind the lamp sounds even better.

Well today was my last day of work for 10days. Where I work is shutting down to avoid a layoff. Makes sense. Huh. Don't pay us for shutdowns but can't get unemployment either. Contractrally so they say they can do it and carryover days they didn't shut us down the previous year. Pretty sweet for them. After its all said and done I'll only get paid for about 9 months of work this year and uneligible for unemployment. I'm so over that place. Gonna be doing a lot of knife work over that time. That's about the only cool thing about it. Looks like cheap beer for me for a while!

I have both and I am actually glad to have each. I keep the ESEE-4 in my EDC bag as I like it as my urban fixed blade whereas my BK-16 is more my outdoors belt knife. Hope that helps (to continue our mutual sickness) :D
