How you like that Adamas Guyon? I'm pretty interested in one but it looks so hefty to carry around. Maybe as a bag knife?

It's a big old honker. Feels solid though. It's not that heavy, but some folks will like it better in a sheath.
Unfortunately, the included sheath is set up for molle retention, but not so much belt carry.

How do you like the Hogue and how does it compare to the ZT next to it? I was just looking at those 2 models. I like the smaller blade and the scales of the Hogue, but I'm not sure how I would like the release button on the side - seems like it would be an annoyance there or subject to accidental release. I like the design of the flipper/finger guard on the ZT, but does it feel significantly larger/heavier? Preference between the 2?

Anyone here reload for 40 S&W? I have a bunch of 40 brass that is just taking up space, so let me know and I'll send it your way.

Good morning gang! Day 1 of my 10 day layoff. Got up. Sent the wife off to work, and the kids to school. Just finished a bacon and swiss omellet I made. (Sorry no pics) on my 2nd cup of a full pot of coffee and headin to Lou! After that. To the shop for a full day of undistracted knife work. I'll see if I can have some progress pics later on in the day. This being unemployed thing would be great if you got paid for it!;)

If it were my house I'd be pressured to work on the Honey Dew list and still wouldn't get to my knife work! :D

Finally joined the ranks of the gun owners. Picked up an XD 40 today. Looking forward to taking it out for a spin.

I've had one for a few years now. I love it. It's the perfect gun for me. Deadly accurate out of the box too! Congrats my man!!

Well, K9. I do have to mow the grass and trim the rose bushes sometime in the next couple of days. But that just didn't sound as manly now did it?

Thats cool Crimson. I borrowed an XD 45 a bit ago and it was a pretty nice gun. Now where are the pictures????

New blades and gun!

I love the BK5. Now that it's in hand, I'm hesitant to actually do much more than strip it and rehandle it. The balance is perfect as is, after all.

As I've mentioned before, I'm less fond of the ZT560. I think the jimping placement right under the flipper is...unfortunate (just remove the bottom slots and it would be perfect, but instead, it's uncomfortable).

I love the custom DDR Trigger Maze. It's a sexy knife, although I actually like it less than I do the Gun Hammer, which remains my EDC. The TM will become my very first safe queen.

Cave Flash seems to be a pretty darn good flashlight, although I'll need to stock up on batteries for it, as it doesn't use AA's like my EDC Fenix. 1300 lumens on strobe is nice and bright though.

And, as mentioned, I've got an XD40. Decided to go for the regular XD because, as an utter noob to gun ownership, I'm not convinced I need a match-grade barrel or trigger. I did buy the extended slide release as the lower profile of the stock one is hard for me to engage as a lefty. Next I gotta stock up on all the accessories, and figure out which ammo the gun likes best.

Nice purchase, Crimson! The XD will eat just about any ammo you put in it. Winchester white box or Blazer is a cheap way to start. My range sells some stuff even cheaper, but I'm not sure if it's commercially available or just something they have made for in-house sales.

You were right not to go with the XDm, unless you think you'll start competing with it down the road and don't want to trade-up or buy another. They're both fantastic, but I've shot very good groups and 30 and 50 feet with the XD40. It's no slouch when it comes to accuracy. The biggest margin of error on that front is the person behind the gun.

Yeah, that's about what I figured. The extra 120 bucks isn't going to be worth it to me until I'm confident that I can shoot good groups with the regular XD. It's a first gun for someone who has never owned his own handgun before, and only done range shooting, and if I can't shoot with the regular gun, having a gun capable of more accuracy won't matter. Thanks for the ammo suggestions. I've got a favorite online shop (not any of the usual) that has good ammo prices, so I'll see what they have to offer, and check out the Winchester and Blazer you mentioned. If I recall correctly, some/most ranges require FMJ?

I'm not sure what ranges near you will require. The two that I use (one indoor, one outdoor) don't have restrictions on handgun ammo. I would think most ranges would allow hollow-point ammo. It actually stops faster and people need to practice with it to know if their gun will run well with their defensive ammo.

I mostly shoot the stuff I load, so I shoot lead semi-wad cutters. No jackets on anything, and as long as you don't have polygonal rifling (glock, browning high power), it doesn't cause any more leading than jacketed ammo.

Thanks, good to know. I didn't see any restrictions about gun ammo on the usual ranges, but they only sell FMJ for use in their guns. Gotta sign up for my CCW class also... Oh man, as if I didn't have enough spendy hobbies...

Fist. Not mine, but the owner of said fist is now $500 poorer.

Unfortunate. They have meds to control anger issues you know. However, if it was during a football game. Its totally understandable. Hell insurance should cover that!:p

Headed out to my brothers place in a bit to make some pork sausage. He didn't get drawn for a deer tag this year so we decided to buy a bunch of pork and make pork sausage instead of deer sausage this year. I'm taking the bk15 along to cut the pork up. I'm thinking it will do that nicely.
