This sounds like a stupid question no matter how I word it, but what do Amish people eat? I mean as far as calling it an Amish restaurant... I imagine they aren't serving Sushi or Tacos.

I was just yanking your chain. Given the choice, I would go through KY and TN just for the scenery. However, I was serious about the Amish restaurant. Any time I'm in the area I stop there. Homemade bread, churned butter, the best vegetables you've ever had, roast beef, fried chicken, all kinds of pies..etc. Damn, now I'm hungry.

I see now they went up to 6.40 shipped with the orange case. I paid 5 bucks with shipping and everything included. Im going to order a couple more now before they go up in price, or the supplier runs out!

doomsdayers have NOTHING on the amish, imagine the world for just a minute without power... many on the interlubes use google/youtube as a crutch to figure out stuff at a spur of the moment, take that away and what do you really know when caught in a situation like this...??

ALL my money goes on the amish, and cockroaches, they're just hard to kill off.... :D

OK, at first I was thinking you are making miles and miles of trees, rocks, and water sound bad..?!?! I was a bit confused, but thought that must be a damn fine Amish restaurant.. :) hard to read a dry sense of humor over the interwebs..

Sanding wood filler sucks. Got the luan all laid down Sunday, filled the seams yesterday, and am sanding today. Tomorrow the linoleum gets put down, finally. A few small things to do after that, then the cabinets can go in. Bought all the stuff to finish that, except for the counter top itself. Damn I'll be glad when this is done. All the appliances, table, etc, are strung all through the house. Navigation's a bitch, haha. We've been using the gas grill outside, and the camp stove inside to cook. That part is actually fun.

Hey warrior (or anyone else) will a tops bob knife fit in a Becker cordura sheath? Of any size, I recall you posting one up and I know you gots some beckers to check it against :D lol

I ask because a guy just started a thread about it in general..
And the answer is.....YES! Just checked and my B.O.B. fits into my 16 sheath quite snugly, although I can't snap the bottom strap. The B.O.B. is a little thicker and a shade longer. But the B.O.B. sheath is pretty nice kydex with a firesteel loop. You getting a B.O.B. or selling a sheath?

Are you bringing that B.O.B. to the gathering? I love the looks of it but I would like to see one in person. if you could that would be great.

It's a sweet blade. A little on the heavy side, but nice.

I think that is what I like about it. It seems beefier than a 16, longer and thicker, plus the scandi/scandivex grind. Not sure about the handle though. That shango notch and bearing block hole seem sorta like a gimmick. Have you got the notch to work well with a ferro rod?

It is getting harder and harder to justify knives but this one keeps popping up with good reviews.

I personally think the shango notch is a joke. There are vids on youTube showing people using the bearing block hole. Seems to work.

I plan to, yes. Been having back trouble keeping me out of work for a couple of weeks which might affect travel, but I'm getting an MRI Fri so Ill know better by the weekend, I hope. Really wanting to test it out, got that and the 16 at ~ the same time and haven't done much playing with either yet. I'd really like to try making and using a bowdrill with the B.O.B., as I've got some custom wood scales I'll be working on a and wondering if it would be a good idea to incorporate a socket in them. Hopefully I'll have it all sorted out a month from now  but am definitely looking forward to being there and bringing it.

Kinda long, but here's a guy using his BOB to start a fire with. Makes the bow drill and all:

I hope you get good news from the Doc and can make the trip. It would be great to meet more like minded people.

I just have a hard time figuring out why I would make a bow drill fire when the knife comes with a ferro rod and a notch made to scrape said ferro rod. Kinda like having a lighter with the ability to hold matches. I realize that is is good to practice and all but it is just weird.

Dubs... I just got done watching that video. Good post.

Anyone thats ever made a bow drill and started a fire with it, knows 10minutes is excellent time. I think he did great!

I think a lot if people aren't using it (the shango notch) correctly; the ferro rod that comes with the knife is three lobed, two rods are magnesium and the third is the ferro, I've yet to use it but I have seen it used on YouTube and it works as well as a squared knife spine which means you don't have to strip the knife or carry a striker. IMO the knife is really nice even without the "value adds"; great micarta handle shape that feels great and lets you easily choke up on the blade, kydex sheath and firesteel loop with firesteel makes it a good value (again IMO, got mine used) too. I'm planning to test it and my 16 out soon.

Honestly for as much work as he put into there, 10 minutes isn't bad to get a fire going.

I wasn't saying he took a long time to get a fire going, just that some people don't wanna sit there for 10 or 11 minutes to watch a video

Yeah, I'm aware of how to use it. I haven't used it, but it seems to be the general concensus. I love the knife though, it's one of my favs. Plus, as a bonus, the 5" handle fits my hand. That was one of the big selling points for me. The first thing I did, was to take the chain and whistle off, and replace it with much quieter paracord.
