it's quite clear and nice after the slight but messy storm we got.

almost tempting to whip the telescope out, and have a peek

but today is fired. though i feel MUCH better being at home in my chair... work was dull. almost no point in going in, but to prove i was there so i can get paid. i like money.

then a friend dropped the bomb that she's going to put her 14 yo dog to sleep, poor thing is suffering, and well, this is the weekend. i feel bad for her, but the dog too... that dog LOVES me in a way that's kinda bizarre... like it's starved for love or something, i dunno, but when it's gone, i will have lost something precious. that sucks. i'll be there at the end for the dorky thing though.

so tonite, i have a mead, and some netflix, and a comfy chair, and maybe a fire, then bed. that's about all i got.

Sorry to hear about your friends pooch Bladite..............

Here's you a stupid cute sleeping puppy pic.

Fireworks by daylight... why? Pretty explosive too. Definitely watch until it all goes BOOM :)

so, in case none of you ever gleened from the pictures, or seeing them in person like...

the original Machaxen were convexed from the get go :) beauties! BK2 as well. so nice. much flavor.

Camillus almost turned me off of Becker forever :D

Hopefully, KaBar can get a convexing machine, and you know, regain the glory ;)

also them old Machax had SQUARED spines 1/4 inch thick. now, that's a choppah.

yar

i was just checking my "box o khukris", yup, got a Siegle in there.

realized i need more Siegle in my life.

so, my immediate mission for my play money, until a special Mosin finds me...

M18, then a Siegle Jungle model, and ...

though a lot lately, when i need a chopper, it's an axe, because i'm going through stuff that's too thick for a knife time/energy wise, and i can't bother with the chainsaw (quiet, exercise, environment)

AXEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i did rock the Zomstro all Summer though - does a good job with limbing in tight quarters, possibly easier and safer than a hatchet (bigger sweet spot). hard to lose with those green handles.

love me an axe. Ok, love me 10 axes...
I still want a chopper knife, tho. that's a hole in the collection.
Patrol Machete would do it. :-(

Ooooooh

I have the compact gerber parang. I like the design. Chops ok for what it is, slices better. Thicker would of made it a better chopper i think. just too light for really heavy chopping. Tramontina bolo out-chopped the gerber parang in my test, the bolo worked better for most stuff really... but i still like using the parang more. I just like the shape and over all design of it. Thicker, better steel.... it would be a badass!

Exactly.
(how about a BK4 instead?)

I think im liking the BK4 more than the BK9, i still need to fully test it, but i really like the shape and feel of it. Jonny had it right when he said its the "funnest" Becker. If i was seriously needing to chop some wood in a hurry i wouldnt pick the BK4... but for general camping and playing around with knives id choose the 4 over the 9 in a hurry. I want me a decent Kukri now. Something thick with some weight behind it :)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the BK4 1/4in. Thick? Id say with minimal grinding skills a guy could convex one pretty easily as long as he made a effort to keep it cool.

I want a 1/4" convex Machax!!!

Going to do some ice fishing in a few hours, but until then I'm going to call around for some car insurance quotes. Last winter my premium went up $60 every six months and I didn't think too much about it. Now I got a renewal notice and it went up another $120 every six months, which I think is getting a little out of hand when I haven't had any accidents, tickets, or anything else change. I don't know what Progressive is thinking, but they are losing a customer that has been with them for 9 years. I already got an Allstate quote for the same coverages that I have now and they are $300 less every six months than I would be paying with Progressive.
