Any body have a manual on how to intelligently handle the bullshit you gotta put up with dealing with a 11yr. old daughter? She got me so pissed tonight I just held my hand up and have baracaded myself in my shop treatining anybody that breeches the threshold that I will open fire!............Kids!

Looks like im making it into the cool kid club

Ill be the proud owner of a Daizee Birudashi soon!!!

Doing the happy dance :D

Ya know, I never really got the kiradashi style knives. They don't really appeal to me. But I also want to check one out to see if I'm missing something.

Nope. In 9 years I'll be bugging you for advice on the subject. I'd chalk it up to "hormones" and pass it off to the wife while you work off the frustration doing something you love!

Cool score WW. Daizee makes some fine wares. Hell of a guy to boot. Been meaning to pick one of those up myself. But, been a little busy lately.

They're not particularly BETTER at anything (except some versions with some precise layout cuts), but they're slim, light, aggressive, and stylish. :)

Thanks, Todd. BTW, fellas, Mr. Hunt has been giving me some advice that maaaay help shorten the birudashi lead time in the future. Fingers crossed.

Im useless in this department. I dont think we were made to deal with women, young or old LMAO

My daughter is only 7. going on 8 now, but i swear she has more emotions then anyone i ever knew. I can deal with everything my son throws at me just fine, but i honestly feel incompetent when it comes to dealing with my daughter. I just do my best and if its not working, or if i start to get too upset, i send her to talk to her momma or have her go to her room and wait for mommy to come home.

Ill dont spank often, but when my son is just completely flying off the walls sometimes its the only thing that makes him stop, but its always the last resort. Even though my son is younger he gets a spanking when he is really being rotten, but i dont spank my daughter at all. Im just not comfortable doing it, so momma handles that.

I have never owned a dashi, But for me i can see it coming in handy quite a bit. Especially pruning small plants, opening boxes and scraping stuff off glass.

Thanks man. I agree he makes some killer blades. I especially like the Mountain knives he makes. Great curves and i like the wide blades on them.

Speaking of Birudashi's and things that are bad for me, I believe I'm gong to give mine a workout tomorrow night.

In other news, I do not understand all the fuss about the zT550. Great materials and very solid... but it sure seems like a whole lot of other stuff/weight wrapped around a smallish blade. Maybe it's just me *shrug*
This is why (if one were to spend that kind of coin) one should get the 560....longish blade made of Elmax and roller bearings at the pivot. Used, they are a good value on what would otherwise be a lottery knife. I really like mine.

House/dog sitting this week. No beer or internet; however, the two large dobermans our friend have are an absolute blast!
This house is also a half mile from my work, to boot. Usually I commute from the complete opposite side of town.

The beer issue is solvable. Then you can get drunk for breakfast and walk to work!
(Note to the minors: this is a terrible idea. Note to the adults: this is a terrible idea.)

From personal experience: this is a terrible idea. :D

I suppose both are solvable, my new fangled modern phone has the interwebs.

You're welcome,

Doc

At least you still have hair buddy. :) I remember being skinny, long hair blowing in the breeze as I waxed my 69 Dodge Charger. Ive been bald a long time and I still have hair in some of my dreams. :D The ones where Moose isn't chasing me.
It's all good Mauz, you got more hair on your chin than I have on my head. ;)

Yeah I've always been kinda picky on my blade/handle ratio and that's one reason I was never really drawn to them much. But then again, it's a knife...

And who's Todd?

I saw an intresting video on youtube the other day talking about the way the brain develops as we grow up. The emotional part of the brain develops well before the area that allows us to weigh options and envision consequences which is a reason why many young people well into their teens and even early 20's make quick emotion-based decisions rather than rational ones.

I can see for opening boxes and shallow detail cuts. For scraping I like a nice chisel tip. Tanto points make decent scrapers too.

Me too. I believe we are about the same size.... wanna race? I just like pop, candy, pasta, and all the other things that are horrible too much. And I don't do much at work.

I'm around 380 right now, that qualifies me as morbidly obese but luckily I haven't developed any heath problems related to it...yet and I can still move around fine, walk and go for hikes and stuff. Most people wouldn't guess I was anywhere near 380 by looking at me. I've been hitting the gym most nights at work and walking for at least a half hour on my nights off. Need to step up the exercise and cut calories. Might have to resort to surgery but that's an absolute last resort. I need to look into a personal trainer. I did weight watchers once, lost about 25 lbs in 3 months and that was giving my self one day a week where I ignored the program totally and ate anything I wanted. I think that one cheat day helped me stay with it as long as I did.

My daughter is 22 and son is 19. All I can really say is to hang on, it's a bumpy ride. Taking a break before you lose control is a very good plan. I suppose I was lucky in that most of the family drama was between my (now) ex-wife and daughter when she was a teenager. My ex used to say something about the Chinese symbol for trouble or discord was "two women under one roof."

Other random thoughts:

People generally do what you expect. Expect poor performance or behavior, and that's what you get. Expect good and you generally, most of the time but not always, get good.

This will sound terrible, but raising kids and dogs is somewhat similar. Be consistent...once you bend a rule or don't enforce it once, then it's not a rule any more. Instructions should be clear and unambiguous (again, expectations). Discipline is easier if you use both positive and negative reinforcement. No two of them are the same, so what works for one might not work for another.

Both of my kids got to the point (at a pretty young age) where a spanking didn't affect them. They were willing to put up with the pain to get what they wanted. Other forms of pain must then be found: telephone, friends, internet, etc.

Cherish the time you do have, because they'll be off on their own in a blink of an eye.

I'm sure there is more wisdom in my brain, but it's been a long day and I must sleep....
