:) yeah, I also carried matching pink asp handcuffs. Girls would say they liked my tie then I'd say thanks it matches my handcuffs. Worked every time ;) Our owner liked to do things a bit different, all the door guys were regular sized. We had a solid crew while I was there. I hate clubs but spent a decade working in them(probably why I hated them). I played good cop, but I always made sure the people that thought I was a pushover knew that I wasn't. When people would call me an A hole, I would point to the guy with no neck and say "I'm the nice one, so you don't wana know what he's going to do" :D all this talk makes me miss it a bit.

I dont miss it that much. I worked in a tie-mill all week and bounced Fri/Sat nights. If I get nostalgic I can just close my eyes and recall what a cueball to the head feels like LOL...makes a interesting sound too!

and no, not a factory that makes pink neckties. Railroad ties ;)

We didn't have pool tables, but I'd imagine it's about the same feeling as a heinekin bottle.

Tradewater said this is more what you look like long boarding

Bouncing is a funny profession.
I bounced night clubs, and an after rave club. I am not a big guy. I am 5'9" on a tall day and the biggest I have ever been is about 198. Most of my bouncing was done when I weighed about 150 ish.
The weird thing that I noticed was that the LARGE bouncers got messed with way more than me, and as I said I am not large by any means. I am also all smiles most of the time so not typically what you would call an intimidating guy.
I found this very confusing, so one night while pulling some idiots off my large friend who I worked with, I asked one of the idiots why they would have picked a fight with my friend Jason who looked like a wall of flesh, and not with the smallest guy on the crew. He replied to me by saying, "big bouncers are a scare tactic, they may or may not be able to handle themselves, but a small guy bouncing has got to be dangerous" ..lol I had never thought about it that way but I bet Thrillbilly has had a few of those "you aint crap, I aint scared of you" guys and or the " HEY ! you aint so big ! "guys ..lol. I had never considered before that Big guys actually get picked on and targeted, but after that point I did notice it.

I can say I dont miss bouncing at all ... tooo many idiots.

Hey Silver, I got that blank in yesterday. Thanks man, it is awesome!

Yeah our big guys got the brunt of everything, everyone wants to climb the mountain. I used to tell people "I may not look scary, but there must be a good reason I'm here. Just some food for thought".

Grats on the loss.

I wonder if one of these days, the monthly challenge'll be a physical challenge. Practical fitness applicable in a survival/ TEOTWAWKI/ alien zombie nazi invasion scenario.

thanks

yeah, actually, i'm contemplating this lossage as sort of endurance test/events with the idea that "well, this is what the first month or three of survival would be like"... not enough food, strict rationing, but you have to function.

if you can live that long, you might just have a chance to live longer. for shorter periods? no problem.

as Ron Hood has said in the rule of 3s: 3 minutes of air, 3 days of water, 3 weeks of food... i wonder what 3 months is?

but zero food for 3 weeks? enough water and sleep? doable (not what i'm doing). probably longer. during that 3 weeks, one could probably eat some twigs and sticks and bark tea and leaves and slugs :) hopefully.

i'm sure some of us like me, could go longer than 3 weeks ;)

still, a good exercise. there's a fasting thread over in the wilderness area. it's an interesting thing to do. test yourself.

I have a question, I'm not sure if it is worth starting a thread for it or not so I'll just ask it here...

Why the Carbon over Stainless? Beckers are the only carbon blades I have. And while I do <3 my Beckers, why are they all carbon and not stainless? Is there some property to the carbon that stainless doesn't have?
