:D I'm sure woodland would be a better cock. Desert just seems uncomfortable

I didn't inspect it with the critical eye of some, but it was just another well built knife to me. Couldn't see it as substantially better than other well built folders that are less coin, but that's me. I don't think I could ever pay the price, when I could get a nice custom fixed blade for the same money.

Doc

Its the machining tolerances that you can't see which makes the knife. But I agree with you 100%, I've already got nice folders, I'd spend my denaro on something custom

when you get to the top end of any market, the price/performance ratio goes way out of whack, and you're buying exclusivity, cachet, etc. Of course the gee-gaw had better perform too!

I'd like to handle a sebenza or insingo and see for myself. The blade shapes are perfect (from pictures), and the inlaid micarta strips are gorgeous. Another thing I like (at least on spec) is that CRK seems to be careful about blade length, and the small knife is scaled to a 2.94" blade, which is all but 3" and indisputably legal in many restrictive jurisdictions. And in a large folder, 3-5/8" is really my practical max. So props where they are due for elegance and restraint.

I have had the opportunity to check out a few CRKs, a couple Striders, And a few other high end folders..... My thought on the subject was similar to Doc's. I could never pay the price for them when the same amount of money would get me a badass custom fixed blade.

You're supposed to win them. :p
Ethan's a fan of the solid clunk they make on lockup.

I'm with Doc and WW. As daizee can attest (because he flipped it, like, a hundred times), my ZT 0560 also gives aural satisfaction....and is silky smooth on its balls....

...you know, the ones in the bearing races. 'Cause it's got balls. At the pivots.

And I'm not doing any of that "IBTL" crap, either. So.

Good morning all !! Family visitors headed back to Colorado this morning, so the house is quiet. It was certainly fun spending time with them, but some solitude is good.

In other random thoughts, I couldn't figure out who/what SOE was for a while, but then someone posted the morale patch. I'm with JT on this one in that I could do without that type of marketing. I certainly don't have sensitive ears (20 years in the US Army, remember?), but there is a time and place for that sort of language. On my gear for everyone to see is neither one of those. Not a fan of the gratuitous use of profanity that today's youth seems to enjoy...I've had that talk with my almost 20-year old son... If you use that language too much, it loses the impact when you really need to let fly.

As far as high-end folders, I think the Ritter RSK Mk1 (based on the Griptilian) is about as high-end as I need.

Oh, and IBTL.

I got to hold and check out a sebenza and a umnumzaan (i believe were the 2 model names anyway) Both were of excellent quality and i couldnt find any faults. The Striders let me down a little honestly though..... Only because i have always loved strider designs (by looks) so i had built up hopes on them and they just didnt feel like 300+ dollar folders IMO. They were nice.... But i just couldnt feel the high value in them. I even got to play with a 1 of a kind strider as well... And again it was nice... But it just didnt feel like a $500 knife to me.

I also got to check out an AD10 from Andrew Demko.... Now that was a BEAST of a folder and you could see and feel the value in it.... But i think Andrew told me the one he had on him and let me check out was over a grand.... Yea, once he told me the price i handed it right back to him FAST LOL

I been eyeballing the ADV butcher for a while and like the looks of them a lot... But i need to hold one eventually and see if i can actually feel the value in it.

But id never buy one still.... For 400 bucks id jump on a Reaver Cleaver, for 300 id jump on the Rat Bastard.... I been digging them two models from Zombie Tools. Eventually ill own one of em.

We all need one of these... Dont we?? :D

I like the overall design... But wish the grind was taken up higher on them.... Still i want one. Id do some damage with it.

There are only a few folders I want, but I don't see be able to get one any time soon. I'll make my Manix 2, Griptilian or Presidio Ultra suit my needs.

A large Sebenza is at the top of the list though. More specifically, I would love a Large 21 with an ebony inlay or one with the Native American graphics; however, a plain one would suit me just fine. After that, the only other folder I want more is one of those TM Hunt frame locks.
