Glass blowing?? or for some industrial use?
I love blowing glass. Go ahead, make fun.

What's that? A furnace to heat glass? Or you mean gas furnace?

Industrial float glass furnace. Heats the glass until it is viscous enough to float on top of molten tin. It produces ultra flat glass with thicknesses ranging from 2.2-5.7mm at 140-154"" wide.
650 tons are pulled every day, non-stop until the furnace gives out after 15-18 years.
Until then, all repairs are performed "hot" because we can't stop the flow of glass.
Makes for some interesting work at times...
My company has 5 float glass facilities so anytime there is a major repair, masons from the other plants travel to help out.

Missed my flight this morning...couldn't get on a standby flight, so now I'm flying out at midnight and get to DFW at 9am tomorrow. Damn.

Ugh, DFW is huge. I missed a connection one time because it took 30 min on the little tram to get from one end to the other. My first flight left late but thought 30 min was plenty. Nope...

ETA: oh yeah, the furnace...that sounds crazy...I haven't had the pleasure to work on many big industrial monsters. Sounds like tons of sensors, motors, PLC, solenoids, t-stats and all that jazz...

The Cadet is not too bad. My Farmer is still my favorite, but the Cadet is a nice companion SAK that can be found for under $30.

In other news, our two T-bones turned out a perfect medium rare.

I love my farmer, and made the same thing for dinner, but a ribeye instead of a t-bone

I have spent about 6 weeks of my young life blowing glass. I have no current skill or facilities. It's super fun. Very intense.

Cool stuff. I have thought about taking a glass blowing course a few times.. Just to learn about it a bit so i can fool around making some of my own stuff... But then i looked into how much it would cost to do it at home and just decided its cheaper to buy what i want LOL

On another note... I just scored wood... 2-5/8" square x 7" length.. Buckeye Burl

nice wood, woody :P

I'm stuck in a vortex of sleeplessness and double-shifts. yay. Too many projects to catch up on. Soon.

Buckeye burl is probably my favorite wood, what are you going to do with it?

Buckeye burl, Chechen Burl, amboyna burl, bocote, cocobolo, katalox... I cant pick a favorite anymore. Different pieces, even of the same species, all have different characteristics to a point.. I can find beauty in most woods. But buckeye is definitely at the top of my list!!

Well this piece is for a project that has nothing to do with knives. Its getting turned in to a custom vaporizer. Will take some time though... costs money and all that. But its not that easy to find a piece in the size i needed with enough workable room at a half decent price. So when i seen this one i jumped on it. Really like this piece.

Thanks brother!! Nice to see ya in the snark room too :)

Dont work too hard... I hear its bad for ya, and takes time away from having fun :D

Nice! Keep me posted on this! I've been vaping about 2 yrs and I'm still on the ol' IGO-W7 dripper on a Turtleship mech mod. I'll always stay with mechs because there's nothing to break really. I run a .5 parallel 28ga coil with 1 18650. Unless ur talking about the other vaperizor hehe. Well, I'd be interested in that too:thumbup:

When i read about e-cig type vapes it makes me think all you guys must be electrical engineers or some similar type electrical brainiacs.... :D

Im not sure if there would be issues with posting a pic of this or not, i have seen many pipes, e-cigs, even hookas on the forum so i feel reasonably comfortable or i wouldnt post it at all.... BUT...Mods, if there is any issues just let me know and ill remove the picture right away... Just looks like wood though  :D.

Not my picture.... But will look similar to these when done.... The core is custom made by 1 company and then the top wood mouthpieces are custom made by another guy. Takes time. Cost money. But looks BEAUTIFUL. If you like wood, like i do, there is no better looking vapes period. And im trying to be a bit healthier these days and have resorted to "mainly" vaping.

I'm a licensed electrician but I learned all this on you tube and from friends heh...those look awesome and very incognito. I get comments all the time from folks who aren't familiar with it. It's funny now tho because almost every smoker in my company now vapes this last year and theyve moved way beyond me with expensive box mods and tanks.

My stuff was "only for the experienced" now it's old news but I stick with it because I've never had to do anything more than build another coil or buy another battery. 10' of canthol for $5 and $3 for cotton balls...after 2 yrs I've hardly put a dent in that.

Those look really sweet. Maybe too large for my liking but I def see the appeal. I guess it's just a sleeve and a drip tip. Very cool. Good luck with that! I'm sure they'll fly. There's sooo many fanatics with deep wallets or no wallet who just throw everything at it.

I've seen ppl spend $800 on mods to win a $200 cloud chasing contest.

I could use a good vape this morning :( the weather here is a little rough and the pressure is making my joints hurt.

This was Thursday mornings broken drill bit finger stabbing fun.

Always remember, everything in the knife shop is designed to cut metal... and you are made of meat.
But then i looked into how much it would cost to do it at home and just decided its cheaper to buy what i want LOL

I feel the same way about micarta, mosaic pins, stabilizing wood, etc etc. If only someone had warned me about that before I started grinding blades... :p

How'd that hot sauce work out for ya?

Its not the weather that's making your joints hurt, it's the fact your built like a brick sh!t house and your bones are getting crushed by the tension of your muscles.. :D:D

Got a jury duty letter this morning. WTF? I don't want to do jury duty! Has anyone done this before? Does it suck as much as I'm thinking its going to? Maaaan I don't want to have to spend 2 weeks driving into the damned city, trying to find a bloody parking spot and paying through the nose for it. It's going to cost me a bomb just to do this and I really can't afford to take time off work. <grumble> first world problems.. :D

I need a set of these glasses..

Lol Thanks. At one time in my life maybe ;) I've let a lot go since having kids. I haven't learned to balance my time properly. There are not enough hours in the day for me to both work out and sleep / relax and get stuff done around the house lol.

Wow thats wild, but im guessing they still enjoy it after the contest... Still thats a lot of money!! SO many options and mods to those e-cigs though it does get confusing reading about them LOL

The most i have invested in a vape is around 250 so far... But this one will reach around 400 once the wood and mouthpiece and all is added. These are some of the top of line, great company, warranty, great function.... But in all honesty i have vapes that work well enough.... I want this one for looks really. But i hear it functions much better than my home/desktop unit too.. so it could be a win/win.

These arent made for portability. Actually require to be plugged in. There is an optional battery pack... but i already have a portable, this one will be for home use. That being said they are pretty small, especially compared to my current home unit. These wood ones are just a bit taller than a can of soda, and not quite (by a hair) as wide. Still not pocket-able, but not overly bulky either.

Come on over. You wont even have to move. I got a remote, you can lay in the hammock and use a remote control to operate the unit. Either have a hookah type tube ran to you in the hammock, or fill balloons and enjoy while you swing, or you could use the smaller unit and sip in style :D

My knees and hands get stiff when the weather goes to crap.

KIDS.. Take care of your bodies. You only get 1. That being said... Live life too, you only get one of those as well!!
