1 square yard = 1 yard x 1 yard = 9 square feet.
1 cubic yard (i.e. concrete) = 1 square yard x 1 yard deep = 27 cubic feet...

See, this is why I defer to smarter people... So instead of it being 9.375 lbs it would be 2.75 lbs?
 
That depends on what your filling it with. water weighs 8.3 lbs per gallon for example.

that would require very cold water (but not frozen) - the definition of an fluid ounce is 1 ounce (Av, not troy) of water at 72 degrees and sea level, so 1 pint = 1 pound and 1 gallon = 8 pounds.

same standards for metric weight -- 1 cubic centimeter of water at 72F (24C) and sea level weighs 1 gram and = 1 mL.
1 liter of water weighs 1 kilogram, or roughly 2.2 pounds.
