Well, the wife has declared her want for an axe. She starting reading Kephart on our honeymoon and has it in her head that she wants one of her own. She's settled(for now) on a Hudson bay pattern from Council Tools. Now I gotta find a deal.

What about the one you showed me at the gathering? I thought that one was hers.

I guess ill get in on this too....Wanted to make sure Murph had enough time to post before i took over!

3 is the place to be!!

Just came in to take a break for a few minutes and get something to drink. Got home from work today and crawled onto the roof of my addition and started tearing the shingles off. Seems they've been leaking a while, so I'm putting all new shingles on and from the looks of it, replacing a couple sheets of plywood and some insulation. I'm going to pick up my nephew in a bit so he can help me out with getting the sheets and shingles on the roof and with the rest of it. With any luck we will finish this afternoon sometime........I'm not very lucky tho. :p

Be carefull with the wheather out there folks. living in Indiana, tornadoes are common and frankly scare the sh!t out of me. Ive personally been in the middle of 3 of them and been lucky every time. I dont screw around with them. Wheather was perfect conditions for them last night. Both of my kids came into our room last night to sleep. We have a half bath in our house that is the most centrally located room in the house. Got up this morning and to my suprise, my son (just turned 9 last week mind you) had 4 bottles of water, granola bars, light sticks, flashlight, his moms cell phone on the charger all on the counter. on the floor, he had some blankets and pillows, even had the cats food and water bowl in there. Im real proud of him. he did this on his own and this is common behaivor for him. im not sure where he gets his smarts from but Im thankfull he has them.

And that sounds like a lot of WORK!!!

Good luck with it!

It won't be too bad......the addition isn't huge. It's only 20x14 plus the overhangs. I told the nephew I'd pay him $10/hr to help out, so the faster we get it don't the better. ;)

Speaking of tornados.............one of the companies that hauls mail around the area here and a semi hit by one or some really nasty straight line winds last week. The guy was doing 65 and it just blew him right over on the interstate. I guess the truck slid 200 feet before it stopped. I guess the guy has some bumps and bruises, but otherwise is ok.

Learning new techniques on GIMP. I made "DUBZ" with all skulls:

That's cool man about your son not tornado.. I have never been in an extreme weather situation only that one earthquake back in 1989.

Ha, my dad just gave me a brandless pocket knife that one of my uncles used to carry. I didn't even know he had it. He said that he didn't use it anyway. I'm pretty sure he did it just for me, and he's starting to get rid of some old memories. When he just went outside, I put an Opinel in his jacket :). It's time for him to make some new, good memories.

Very cool! Good luck on your thesis talk if you haven't done it yet.

Thanks. And yeah that's tomorrow. It was said to be past Tuesday, but because the assessor couldn't make it, it was postponed to tomorrow. Not that funny since I had stuff planned with my girlfriend. Nothing I could do about it really... I guess I'll need those thumbs up, I'm nervous like crazy.

Eh, I appreciate it.

I did get my oldest something cool though. Oh, and wanted to mention we had an appointment with the eye doctor, Shyann is seeing 20/15 full time now. Ortho K FTW!!!!!1!!

^ that is cool.

When I was a kid my dad bought a ruger 10/22 to teach me and my brother to shoot. A few years ago when I could afford one of my own I bought one (back when they were $129). Well at that time my dad was on deployment in Iraq with the Oregon National Guard and when he got back he was understandably a little tired of guns and gave me the old ruger 10/22 that I learned to shoot with. After being back home for 8 or 9 months he expressed interest in going back out shooting again so I brought the few guns I had including the 10/22. This was just before his birthday so after we got back I gave him back the old 10/22 he had taught me to shoot with and he still has it in the gun safe and it was still getting used up until the supply of ammo ran dry. On a side note, I highly recommend the Volquatzen Customs hammer kit to reduces trigger pull to about 2.5lbs-not super crisp but only about $40 and easy to install- and a set of tech-sights. I had a hard time getting my cheek low enough on the stock to line up the sights but the tech-sights are the perfect height, plus I much prefer the peep style sights.

call me crazy but I wished it was longer.

I have my dad's old 10/22 carbine I did a lot of my first shooting on. Just ordered a hogue overmolded stock for it a couple days ago.
