Snarking in a Becker Wonderland

Thanks, it’s the two planes whose programs my dad worked on at Boeing, he passed away late last year and I’ve been wearing the avatar as a tribute since then. Also, pretty sweet planes! Got to see the F-22 do an air show performance in Abbotsford a few years ago.
Sorry for your loss man. My dad passed 32 years ago, at age 48, and I still miss him dearly.

I feel ya, that’s too young for a dad to pass; mine was a month from 60.
That's young too. Father passed at 48, older brother took his own life at 45. I'm the old man of the family at 55.

On a lighter note (heh), I have recently bought a new camp lighter, camp stove, camp saw, and hiking boots, with the stainless hardware on my BK20 that makes close to 1/3rd of my camping kit upgraded in the past couple of weeks.

The next trip should be pretty fun!

Heck yes. I ordered a kit from a well known place, they had on clearance. Consisted of a Firebox Nano, the pins, felt, case, etc, with a nice ss cup with lid, and fire starters for $39.99. The stove alone, without the accessories is $39.99. Have had my eye on that stove for some time, and this deal was too hard to pass up.

Scratch the former William Wallace account, haha. I made a few mistakes, that I have painstakingly corrected. This stuff makes my brain spin. You'll see what I mean...

Okay, here goes. My 26th great grandfather, Adam Wallace, had a son, my 26th great uncle, Malcolm Wallace. Malcolm's son was William Wallace, my 1st cousin, 26x removed.

Crazy, but it was about to get mind blowing crazy.

John Wallace, my 19th great grandfather, had a mother and father, both with the last name of Wallace. His father's side leads to what I mentioned previously to get to William. His mother, Ellen, my 20th great grandmother, had a mother, Helen Baillie. Helen's son was William Braillie III. His wife, get this, was Elizabeth Wallace, my 23rd great grandmother, and the only child of William Wallace! William's wife, was Marion Cornelia Braidfute. She was the one that got her throat slit in the movie Braveheart. She was only 21 when that happened, and only 18 when she and William met. Although that movie was largely historically inaccurate, that did happen. To sum it all up, Sir William Wallace is not only my 1st cousin, 26x removed on one side, he's my 24th great grandfather on the other side! Freaking me the hell out, haha.
Awesome Stuff Dubz confusing as hell but Awesome

Haha, thanks man. I had like 20 tabs open, going back and forth to verify this and that, then applying it to my family tree. I do this often, but sometimes it gets too confusing, so I bookmark all the tabs, and my family tree, then come back to it later. A lot of work, but very interesting. Amazing how many family members there are out there. I've known for years that the bluegrass singer Ricky Skaggs was related to me, and figured out the connection not that long ago. My great grandmother on my mother's side last name was Skaggs, that's where the connection was. I found an article where Ricky Skaggs said that his 8th great grandfather was Peter Skaggs, brother to the famous Henry, Charles, and Richard Skaggs, all called "Longhunter". Those guys are my 7th great uncles, obviously Peter is as well. That means Ricky Skaggs 9th great grandfather, Peter's father James Skaggs, is my 7th great grandfather. Ricky Skaggs and Loretta Lynn are cousins too. Loretta's maiden name was Webb. I've come across that name as well, so she is more than likely related to me as well. Loretta Lynn's cousin is Patty Loveless, real last name Ramey. Loretta Lynn's mother's maiden name was Ramey, so Patty Loveless may be related to me too. I normally just do the mother/father line, but when I want to know something in particular, I add the brothers and sisters to be able to make the connection. Windy, aren't I. :p

Got my Firebox Nano in. Cool bit-o-kit. Has the Stove, Nano sticks, carbon felt wind screen, pins for it, the ground protector case, and bag to put it in.

Didn't realize it wasn't a square, but made that way for a reason:

Has a carbon felt wind screen:

You slide the pins in it, then place the pins under the ground protector/base:

My new camping/hiking boots came in today, waterproof with a vibram sole and a shoe-style shape for lightweightness. Should fit all my needs pretty well, even came in a wide size which is good for my weird feet.

Started growing my beard about 14 1/2 months ago, and decided to trim it up a bit today. Took about 3 inches off, and it definitely looks much thicker and healthier now.

Btw, is this thing on? Seems like I'm snarking to myself. Maybe it's that whole I'm my own grandfather thing. :D

I can't grow 3 inches of beard in 14 1/2 months!!!!

Warmer weather? It’s heading into the 70s here next week, super excited! Was below freezing last week.
