I'm thinking I'm going to purchase a tipi soon, and a wood stove for it soon thereafter. Have always wanted to do some hot tenting.

Oh Fo Sho! My baby girl rocks one like a pro!

well, we went back to the pawn shop today. we decided to pass on tje mauser, but picked up a little mossberg 410 lever action instaed. also got a USMC ILBE main pack

I didn't know Mossberg ever made a .410 lever action. I would like to get a .410 lever, I'm into odd ball stuff like that.

sorry, bolt action, not lever action. my bad

Ah. I just looked at a cool bolt action .410 the other day. Tube fed and loads like a .22 rifle but on the receiver there were some serrations to line up with the front bead but they didn't line up quite right. Wasn't sure what that was about so I just passed it up.

I have a Mossberg bolt action 12 gauge and a Sears & Robuck 20 gauge bolt action but they both feed from detachable box mags. Used to have a J.C. Higgens bolt action 12 that was tube fed but it was really worn out plus they had been recalled at one time so I didn't trust it.

the one we picked up was made for Montgomery ward under the name western field. it has an internal 2 rd magazine.

Those 2 round mags were a bird hunting limitation - max 3 rounds before reloading, so you could have 1 in the chamber and 2 in the mag. That way you could prove to the game warden you were hunting legally without having to go to the trouble of installing "bird plugs" in the mag or into the tube of a tube-fed shotgun.

Yeah back in the 40's and 50's pretty much every major hardware and department store chain had their own brand of guns, though usually in name only and made by the more familiar companies. A lot more people farmed and ranched back then as well as hunted, both for sport and necessity, and they wanted inexpensive guns for pest control and putting meat on the table. They're interesting pieces that tend to have a lot of character and can be picked up pretty cheap so I have a few various guns like that.

I was up hunting squirrel with that J.C. Higgens 12 I had, the full choke made a really tight pattern. Actually missed one pretty close, hit right under him and the pattern was about the size of a baseball or a little smaller. Would have destroyed him if I'd been more careful.

so Im trying to decide if I should put sling swivels on my winchester 94. not sure if it would ruin the look or not

Yeah, the wife has not let me use it for anything too fun yet. Once we get the budget up a little higher and its time for some reno's I'll be using it to remove a wall or two :D so far I've gotten rid of that flooring and smashed a few bricks :D

Nice Kuk's!

I would have thought you would have had exepreince in that by now. I remember one campout, shared my tiny 3-man with a guy for 3 or 4 days. Talk about hot-tenting...

yeah, I'm really liking it so far. I predict that it will be a really squirrel slayer

Squirrel slayer.... Sounds like my pup lol

Nicknamed the 1022 "Rim Reaper" get it? Get it? Rim fire...Rim... Ha.

Waiting on FedEx to bring my step bars. Ready to throw them on. Watched a video where a granny installed them by herself so I'm reasonably confident I can get my granny to install them too :D

I had one years ago when doing the whole mountain man thing.
Frigging great once you get them set up but the transporting them to one place to another is a bit of a pain what with the poles and all.

Saw this in a store while I was Xmas shopping. Not trying to start any sort of debate. I just thought it was funny the realization that some corporation out there thinks they can erase my memory.
