Damn, Murph. Awesome pic!

But uhm, since y'all are knife enthusiasts you might appreciate this... Morakniv posted this on their Instagram...

Full tang Moras in '16! Woohoow!

Thank you sir! The subject matter was better than my pic though.

I had that come across my Instagram feed too, awesome!

I pulled the trigger on my upper ass heating up.

As long as you have a video card that can take advantage of it, it's a bit of a waste (think resolution). Also you have the distance from the monitor to take into account. ie there is an issue with sitting too close to a large monitor (like TVs)... There are many formulas (opinions) to calculate min viewing distances. Pick one. Some as liberal as distance from monitor = 1.5" x monitor diagonal. Use what you feel comfortable with, and not strain your eyes. You may be better off with 2 monitors stretched into one screen. I use 3 at work. One 27" with two 21" on each side. That way I can have max res on each and not go past the monitor limits. I use autocad civil 3D, so I need the real estate. I also have a high end graphics card. I would have 4, except I have no desk room left. The other issue is quality. Cheap - big isn't the best quality, so you can lose whatever benefit you were after by getting a larger screen. Without the card to support the resolutions, you can get a squashed look much like on a TV. Just some thoughts. Use your best judgement.

Doc

Thanks for the input Doc. I have a pretty decent video card that should be able to handle 1440, and was looking at the Dell U3415W.

I have heard and read that's a good choice. I wanna get one, but I've gotta build a computer from this decade first. BJ'S had a UHD 4K 40" Samsung (IIRC) for some cheap money. I know it's not a monitor, but the picture quality was insane, and I'm not that picky. If my desktop wasn't 10 years old I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

Hey Gus!
There is a park just through the woods from my backyard. In that park is an imposing rock climbing wall. I think I might have to scrounge up some gear and start training on it.

But then again.... Heights.... *shudder*

Speaking of pulling the trigger...
I did the 'ol 25 cent trigger job on my Glock 23 and added a 3.5 Ghost connector.
It's better. Definitely worth the $13.50 and the half hour worth my time doing the polish.

bladite approved. these are kind of tasty actually. like shortbread cookies

gunna buy a few to keep in the car, in the bag, and stuff.

next up: gunna find some MRE type things or other no/low prep items, specific suggestions or things to avoid welcome

We got a hedgehog for our two girls (last year's Christmas promise ) at the end of November. Her name is Daisy, and she had a general wellness visit at the local vet's today (luckily they do "exotics", and it's less than 2 miles from our house). She passed with flying colors, and pooped quite prolifically in the vet's hand. For a thing so prickly, she's actually pretty damn cool. We let her out to run around the kitchen most nights (hedgies are nocturnal) and my oldest got a couple of great pics a week or so ago. Strangely, she loves the smell of feet, and always licks my toes....which is kinda like when your dog rolls in cat $#!+: funny and interesting at the same time.

That's pretty awesome GSOM! We got the wife a beta for her office per her wish list. I was surprised how cool he is. He swims in and out of his little Japanese house thingy the sits on the roof and spreads his fins out and just chills. I've never seen a fish relax lol. I'll snap a pic, he does it all the time, like a lazy beta.

GSOM - get the BIG meal worms for those fellas. those love that shit :D

the licking is bad - they think your toes are grubs :D

That's 'cause he's the beta, not the alpha.

I thought she just liked the toe jam.....she also digs chicken baby food, but the vet said don't....the occasional insect (they are by nature insectivores) is OK, but nix the chicken. Which is too bad, because she totally digs it. She also got a little turkey from the Thanksgiving meal....liked that, too. It is a curious place to live, New Hampshire, for an animal from Africa. Luckily, the vet did say we could turn the heat down a bit. I've been freaking out like any frugal New Englander about the damn thermostat, which has been turned up since she arrived (they need to be kept warm, my littlest told me). The weather's been unseasonably warm, but 70°?!?! I freaked out on my poor little daughter the other day 'cause she'd turned it up to 72° for fear that her hedgie was too cold. I was like "why do I have to walk around half naked in the middle of winter?!?" I can't stand the heat. I keep it at 65° and no more in the winter. It's shorts weather all the time....in my house. Anywho, she's cute...and a lot more interactive than the gerbils that were our previous pets.

english hedgies do okay with cold

africa has cold bits too...

chicken probably has too much taurine?

a fresh supply of mealworms is a good thing

GSOM - Hedgehogs are so stinkin cute! My sister has one. She keeps her house pretty warm too. Hedgehogs run so much - you can get a special wheel for them that has a ball bearing from a rollerskate apparently and they're much quieter than the pet store ones.

She doesn't seem to like the wheel....we just let her run all over the kitchen. More fun exploring than running around in circles.
