Just playing with youit seems the wood handles crack quite often on the Buck froe. Don't own one but it probably is a good blade for its intended purpose. It's just in need of better handels

Hmm...
Now I'm wondering if a person could take an unground machax blank and do a reverse bevel (edge as spine and spine as edge). Maybe that would be a more suitable froe. Yo.
Check out the local auto parts store or JC Whitney for a extra load helper leaf spring.if one takes the idea of a car spring, with the integral eye, and make something about two feet long, flat, straight, and convexed as all heck, that would be greatvery thick spine though, and as tall as possible 3 inches would be nice
the length if nothing else would be excellent to score a straight line on your subject. starting a cut, would encourage a split with chisels to do the right thing, esp if one does 2-3 inches on each end... a small froe for that, would be keen...
i had the experience of my froe, touched up and sharp, bouncing out of the wood, some chisels do as well, but man, those square aluminum ones go right intook too many pictures, will just have to post at some point.
Gus - I'm jealous, that looks like a blast.
I've had beers from a few of those -- Evil Twin is interesting, Founders is GOOD.
Good stuff DaizOne of my 'kids' showed up with Kyle on the ship this month. A2 after a year of backpacking, camping, and a trip to Patagonia! Yep, proud papa.

Oh, and a couple for authenticity. Note that while we ARE headed north, the container lab was merely borrowed from the Polar Program. We're not going THAT far! And yep, that's the Golden Gate at sunrise. Pretty frickin' amazing.

Possible maple? Maybe oak ?Does anybody know what this tree sapling is? This sprouted last year all by its lonesome.

Drinking some coffee and preparing for the Collective Arts Liquid Art Fest at noon. 50 craft breweries from all over the world, some cool bands and food trucks – should be fun.
The US is very well represented. Anyone familiar with any of these? Recommendations?
Looks like a blast! I'm sure there's a ton of good brews on that list and hopefully you found some you liked. Founders All-Day IPA is my summer choice when I'm outside and drinking is prudent. Most anything from Voodoo is fantastic.
Sprouted last year and its still small. Leaning towards a hardwood of some kind. Maple variety?Does anybody know what this tree sapling is? This sprouted last year all by its lonesome.
