In on two... I am so far behind on snark... Between work, church, and beekeeping, I seem to be having a hard time keeping up. If only I could give up working for a living...

Speaking of bees, they looked pretty good again on Saturday. Got quite a bit of capped brood (larvae that have been capped in wax and are pupating), so hive population should continue to grow pretty rapidly.

This frame is being held upside down, so you can see a wide swath of brood at the bottom of the frame (top of the photo), and then a band of various types of pollen (different colors), then a little bit of capped honey in the lower left of the photo.

Also found some burr comb on both hives at the bottom. It appears (maybe ZZ can correct me if I'm wrong) that this is comb sized for the drones (males) as opposed to the smaller cells for the female workers. I left it alone, since it wasn't connected to other frames or the bottom. I figure if the girls think they need the queen to make some guys, I best let them do it... :D

So I come home from turkey hunting (didn't see anything) and Amanda has made honey from dandelions picked from our yard... ?

Anyone figured out a way to turn that pluckable foam into a more solid piece once you get it shaped?

Stuff makes it easy to customize cases, but then if your not careful pieces get loose or come off and then it just doesnt look or fit as good....

Im thinking maybe use some spray adhesive and spray the entire bottom side, that or if it gets sticky when heated maybe i could use a heat gun and melt it just enough to make it stick back to itself... Both come with risk of ruining the foam though.

Wood, that stuff is a good idea that just doesn't work. We had 4 large pelican cases that we stored our gps units in for transport and storage. The first 4 we had were cut from solid foam. The next 4 had that pluckable foam. We tried all kinds of ways to keep it together. But the foam is so porus it never provides enough surface area to maintain any kind of a stable bond. Constant removal of the items caused it to flex and break any kind of bond that may have existed. Pure shite. Buy a large piece of cushin foam an cut it yourself. Of course, you'll need to get a sharp knife.....

Thanks for the info Doc, I was kind of thinking this, but hoping it wasnt the case... I agree, good idea... but crap in use. I keep having to put the foam pieces back together after removing the items.

I dont mind buying the foam.... But finding a sharp knife is going to be a challenge :D

Got one of these, nice case... Minus the pluckable foam LOL... But i like the internal pocket.. except ill have to use some better glue on the velcro strips, the pocket is removable but the adhesive is weak so both sides of velcro come off with the pocket. That should be an easy fix though.

Kind of funny i picked this over other cases i was looking at because of the internal pocket and pluckable foam... Turns out i could glue/velcro a pocket into any case and the pluckable foam turns out to be more of a headache than anything LOL.... I do still like the case, but need some better foam for it.

Have fun and be safe?

Impossible. :(

snark :D

Probably won't get a whole lot of use out of it today, might go into the woods for a bit, not sure. Can't go camping with it tonight since I have play practice, maybe tomorrow.

Nice reppin JT. That's one fine ass knife hanging from yo belt!

Bee's are a good thing

Looks like fun Guyon, but I agree with WW. I better be actually hurt and not just practicing to be that guy being lowered down haha.

From the last snark thread:

Noswad / GSOM, I wasn't just drunk:rolleyes:..................... I was also really really tired! and maybe something else :D

Spike, for the money the Tri-hone is pretty sweet. It just gets challenging to sharpen blades longer then 9 inches or so.

NC, I have the same sort of set-ups for sharpening with sand paper. I started using them a long time ago when I was looking for ways to sharpen recurved blades. They work great for that, but if you want a really keen edge on something that is not recurved; stones is where its at! I've gotten my knives so much sharper on stones then I have ever gotten on my home made devices.

Dunk, you could be pushing too hard. You do have to give it a reasonable amount of pressure if you want to work faster, but nothing to insane. I would say the equivalent of 1-3lbs of pressure (or the weight of your dead hand on the knife). If the rig starts to slip, try looking at the anti-slip silicone matting. You can pick it up at any big box store in really big sheets or rolls. They market it to line the bottom of your kitchen drawers. I'll throw down one those on the work bench. Or like ZZ suggested, a damp towel.

Hey noswad did you get an email notification for your 15 that it got shipped? Don't think mines shipped yet.

In on two like the cools kids do.

WW you could try gorilla glue. The one that expands as it cures. Used it to secure some foam pool noodles to another project and it expands into the foam holding it pretty well.

Lets see if BF will let me post now..

Edit: It'll let me post, just not what I want to...

Ulf, yes I did. It was from an email address "@ auctane . net" (minus spaces, of course).

BK15 is now out for delivery.

Thread for JT's 30 day tweener EDC challenge is coming some time today. Quick, guys, help me come up with a snazzy name for it other than "JT's 30 day tweener EDC challenge." :D
