Last practice before the show was tonight. Went good. I didn't miss any lines, and there were only a few hitches.

GSOM is one with glacial erratics

the 10 gallon one i was JUST able to get out of the ground with the backhoe. it totally was fighting the process. levering it out with the iron bar was not happening. too big.

itty? the slag pile was "gravel" to footballs.

the "big four" are large enough to not safely pickup. 5-6 inches thick, 24 x 12 inches or so. i'll measure later, but typical for what i'm "moving".

the other stone is as big as a washing machine - i just need the top 2 feet gone...

Dad was just loking on facebook, and apparently a guy who is coming here to stay in the cabin and ride motorcycles this week carries an ESEE (5 I think). Cool.

i didn't feel like spamming with that many big pictures

i have the bull and chisel nose bits, as well as the micro bits (like for anchors in your basement walls - a big plus) and ...

the first rock there is about "a 10 gallon rock". this is not a huge hammer/drill. it will not break a rock up like that fast. plus, having slabs is cool.

it takes about 25 seconds per hole to drill, and a minutes to set 5 leaves/wedges... and tap tap tap. easy peasy. not even sweaty work. pretty clean breaks...

it's the big rock in the ground, that is a PITA. i might use "eco burst" later, but for now i'm playing. never done rock remove in this fashion. ie: technical not brute force.

supposedly i CAN get a blasting cert/license, but "mmm, no"

Uh....what was I going to say? Oh....I have a head MADE of rock, not full of rocks. What was the other thing......uh,....OH! It's the snark thread, Joe. I wasn't really serious about dynamite....plus I know you could probably concoct something semi-legal and very explosive with a little google-fu and a trip to the hardware store.....no certification needed .

well, given that i can do it legally with some legwork... it's still "no". i'm keeping my fingers and hands and ... explosives as such are right out. plus, annoys the neighbors.

"…Parks Canada staff in Jasper and Banff are discouraging its visitors from taking 'bear selfies'…"

I for one wholeheartedly approve of snapping pics for your favorite social media site with your back to a large griz or black bear. Need to thin the herd somehow. Darwinism at its finest.
