Sneak Peek 2 (WOW!!!)

Sweet looking knife. What kind of view camera is that it's resting on?

Why did you choose S30V instead of D2?
Is the heat treat done by Swamp Rat?
What HRC?
Might a D2 or SR101 version be offered as well?
Is the blade flat or hollow ground?

Thanks for sharing!

Eric, are there going to be any of the folders or new fixed blades available for sale at Blade?

Thanks guys,
The Safari Skinner (not pictured) will be the first of our new line to be introduced. The rest will follow this summer (sorry guys they are not immediately available and only prototypes of these will be at Blade)

The Steel on these 3 is SR101
Thickness on the BRT and CTT are 1/4"
Satin Rat is 3/16"

:D:D
is the response over on the other preview thread

Jrozes,
It's a flat grind--should make it great for general EDC uses. All of Swamp Rat's heat treatment is done in-house. S30V was probably chosen as the best balanced steel they could find in their testing. Other blade steels may come along for it, but I doubt it. Even if they do, it will probably be a long time.

Love the blade to handle ratio!! That Mayo-like blade hole will make it an easy opener. Would like to see tip-up however.Put me down for one stat.NAME CONTEST NEEDED

Looks like a folding Busse AD, But better. ;) Have heared tons of great things about S30V, but would prefer A2, D2 or some other Carbon/Semi Stainless steel. Even so, not a bad looking folder. :D

Looks like a folding AD . . .

Dito that. In fact it looks like a folder design I've been working on with my PRO/E software recently. Unfortunately I am just a part time knife designer ...

I like it. :)

I probably can tweak it (no choil ...)

Great design :D

I like it very much.

Best regards

cgd160: "Eric , any hint on how close this is to the Busse folder ?"

I've held and closely examined the Busse folder while Jerry gave me the guided tour of its features. The Swamp Rat folder appears to have a similar blade profile; otherwise, they're very different. That's all I dare say--else an O.I.N.K. hit squad may come after me. ;)

jrozes: "What kind of view camera is that it's resting on?"

I think it's a Sinar.

Don't think of it as a choil--think of it as not rounding off the plungline at your ricasso when you sharpen it, and getting a second point. :)

You know, it's funny. I usually go to the Busse section first to check things out. Not lately!

Wow again!

Cheers,
BJB :D

Love the blade, but someone put the clip on the wrong end :p
What is the liner material, and thickness?

I gotta have one! (or maybe two...I'm sure my wife will latch on to mine if I don't get one for her!)

I even like the tip down configuration. I used to be strictly "tip up", but after carrying a Spyderco Police or Military for the last couple of years, "tip down" has grown on me.

Thanks Jennifer and Eric! All of the new blades look great! :D

I really like the blade to handle ratio, and the price, wow! S30V.. so much to look forward to.
