SNG vs. XM-18 opinions wanted

Not for nothing MiG Angel,

Why are you selling that beautiful SNG and at a very reasonable price I might add, and buying or trading for another one with black scale? Don't they make an aftermarket scale you can slap on that baby? :)

I'm selling the SnG because I already have an XM and a Sebenza :)

The SnG doesn't excel at anything. Sebenza cuts better, XM is tougher. I'm thinking of getting rid of the XM as well since it doesn't cut as well as cheaper knives and it isn't stronger than a small fixed. I'm getting my first Military hopefully this week and expect great things. I've been carrying a Razel, Vic, and a Q36/Sebenza/Umnumzaan/Insingo and I got all my bases more than covered. The SnG is a knife nice to look at though :p.

I don't know about aftermarket stuff, but I'd rather leave it as is and sell it. Besides most mods ruin the looks of knives.

I have had several of both and the XM easily beats out the SNG in every way possible. It is worth the extra price, but considering a nice CGG SNG is going to cost you $500, an XM for another $50 or so is a steal. Plus, Hinderer has Excellent customer service, which Strider does not. Plus, the XM will hold its value, while the Strider will drop like a new care coming off the lot. I did not get to read all 5 pages of posts, but I am sure just from what I know about the knives that the XM will be the hands down winner.

Let's compare apples to apples.

One, if you compare a baseline SnG to a baseline XM, the FFG SnG out cuts the XM.
Two, if you compare a baseline SnG to a baseline XM in todays general public market, the SnG is much less expensive.

If want an XM that cuts as well a standard SnG, you will have to pay $700-$1000 for a custom slicer grind.

If you sell your XM-? you'll miss it and have a bad case of seller's remorse. You want a wicked - WICKED slicer, then the Military is your answer. I sold mine and have another one ordered. Nothing fancy just a plain G-10 black, plain edge linerlock - outstanding and the handle is so roomy you'll wonder why Chris Reeve didn't make the beautiful Sebenza with a 1/2 " longer handle - my only complaint about the Sebby.

...yes. I am packing a 3.5" cf scale flipper as i type. Thanks for all the input, i have monitored this thread before i made my decision.

On the other hand, my god, what have i done?

Pics or it never happened!!

As I'm writing this post, ACK has 4 XM-18s available on their website. Rarely can you see knife dealers with the word "in stock" next to a XM-18. The amazing thing is the asking price is $795 for a production XM-18. I looked closely to make sure if they are custom or production, and they are indeed production - two 3.5" non-flippers and two 3" flippers. They are a dealer and their price is more than double of what they pay at the Hinderer ranch. This will only inflates its already hefty price on the secondary market. Does this mean the Hinderer XM-18 and/or the XM-24 is appreciating in value?
