And now;

:)

Winter got off to a good start this year. We have about 14 inches of snow, and a foot of ice on the lakes. Many folks are already ice fishing and have set up their shacks for the season. Night time temps are no slouch either with temps dipping into the -30's. Needless to say the wood furnace has been hungry this year for a change. Last year, the ice was poor, and we didn't start winter until the 3rd week of January. I hope the cold and snow keeps up, the ski trail and snowmobile trails are good. Winter is my favorite season, clean air, no biting flies and nice early sunsets.

Ok Im good now. This crap can go away. I really dont mind cold, havent wore a coat yet this year but snow stinks. This is Ohio where it snows but it seems like every year after the first big snow everyone forgets how to drive for a week or so. Snow = slippery yes but that doesnt mean you have to drive 3 miles per hour.

Garth

We got 5" on tuesday along with a 60 car pile-up on the interstate!

People need to learn how to drive!.... oh yeah another 3" yesterday!

We just have a skiff left in our town most of it has melted (not that it won't return) but we were up at one of the local mountains about an hour away and it is a winter wonderland up there.

I've had plenty of snow in my life. It is wonderful if you can be snowed in with a body that wants to help you keep warm.

Hey Bufford, Man I here ya!!! Winter is the BEST:thumbup: We were a little slow on the up take this year as we have had some really screwy warm air trough that we could not shake. Got about 8" Saturday and back down to 0'F this morning. About time to stud up the 4-wheeler tires and head up stream for rabbit and spruce chickens.

Spruce Chickens, is that Grouse? I used to go Grouse hunting in Montana with my father quite a bit. Stupid birds....

Grouse. Love hunting them but when they fly up right in front of you those drumming wings will scare the crap out you. Need to go after some quail but hunting lands are getting scarce around here.

Oh,on the snow thing. We had a few flurries last night. They are saying 70 and rain by Saturday and Sunday with it turning very cold first of the week. Same old stuff.

I went into the hardware store and asked where they kept the "Snow Shovels" clerk gave me a weird look and said "That would be a Special Order" I said perfect I think I'm Home!!!!!

I loved hunting Ptarmigan during spring breakup when they are still snow white and stick out against the muddy background....Tooo Easy!!!!

We ended up getting a good seven inches of snow by the end of the weekend. It's so gorgeous outside. They're predicting warm temperatures, somewhere around 43 by Friday, but its supposed to snow again tonight. I'm enjoying this fluffy white stuff for as long as I can. :D

When I went to leave the house Sunday morning, this is what greeted me.

Driving conditions could be better, but it's really not that bad to drive in the snow if you know what you're doing and you're cautious. (Note: I was stopped to take this picture)

I like driving on snow packed roads. When we do get snow TDOT feels that they must get out and lay down ice melt on every road. It really makes driving more dangerous on the icy slush and also makes many people think that it is no longer slippery.

I also prefer driving on snow covered roads, the salt and brine that they use up here is patchy on the county roads and makes it more of a hazard that just leaving the snow would be.

Please go ahead and send some south, about 4in next Monday night would be great.
