Glad to see you getting the SOD out. Mine will be used next time out. From your review, I wanted to tell you on our outing the sheath I had the Busse SARsquatch in was a David Brown kydex (Buy Brown) and on the waist I honestly hardly noticed it all day.

I know a lot of the recent trend has been away from choppers and sharpened pry bars but personally I will probably always have one around.

Like we had the SARsquatch and your kephart, it made a good combination. I don't think there would have been much we couldn't have handled.

Great stuff and thanks for the pics. Sorry for the OT commentary but I think the use of the SOD was great!
 
Yeah Cmdr, I'm getting used to it. Still need a sheath for that thing and am debating on a large Spec-ops or a kydex. Its really hard to tell without wearing it for a full day what it will be like on the hip. I like the idea of the spec-ops being lashed to a pack and the smaller blade on my hip.

I just tried a 8" SpecOps on the SOD and now I remember why it wasn't in there when we got together - it won't fit without modifications to the kydex insert.

The blade is too tall from spine to edge so it would have to be modified similar to how the inserts get modded for the Busse.

I'll try to get some pics of it later for you.

I like the idea as well with the sheath but it will need to be fit.
 
Okay, thanks for the info. They heat up the insert in the oven right and then just sort of mold it the blade while it is hot?

I believe so - I will have to do a search in the Busse forum. I don't have it bookmarked but I've read it before.
