Ahh, in class, some guy whipped out a leatherman charge and I whip out my SwissTool. Another guy jumps in and starts looking at it and goes, "wow, a bootleg Leatherman, oooh:jerkit:,etc)
I just kept my mouth shut.
Anyone else experience this?

simple, if HIS was better i'd be carrying it.
the older i become the more i know that i ONLY have to impress ME

just get the best you can afford and dont worry bout what other people say
theres always gonna be haters...

I have Leatherman tools and Swisstools. The Swiss built a better mousetrap in full size. I like my Juices better than SAKs.

I seem to be the only knife afficianado(sp) in my neck of the woods so I have the best and don't have to worry about someone pulling out their knife and claiming it better than mine!:D:D

I've never been outdone personally. My first response is usually "ok, let's cut something." Then I start shaving my arm and the other person ussually says something like "ok, you win" or "wow, that's INSANE."

Cutter17, your Frost knives are the best! Can you put up some pics?

I have yet to meet someone in my area who can even unfold a lockback without scratching their heads for five minutes first, so I think the chance of that happening is pretty slim. Especially when you carry a Sebenza :D

If that ever happened, I would challenge him to switch knives and do a spine whack test (if the knife is a pos). Then, when the blade of his el cheapo closed on my fingers, I would sue him :D:D:D. On a more serious note I usually just play along and pretend to like it if he's real proud of it and doesnt know anything about knives, though I would say something like "you might want to consider a _________ next time you buy a knife." Hey at least he aint a sheeple right?.

Hey my 200th post. Im so proud of myself:D

If you encounter someone who is saying "mine's better" for the sole purpose of feeling good about themselves by thinking they have one up on you, are they worth a reaction? Saying nothing is never a bad choice in situations like that.

If you get into "my Ranger would out-chop your Becker because..." and have some kind of factual/technical back and forth, that's another matter.

I love guys like that. I just keep "one-upping" them until it's obvious that I'm making fun of them, ie." Oh, yeah well I can slow my heartbeat down to 3 beats a minute."

I'm a fan of "to each his own" since the usual response is "there's no serrations" (hey, my friends who carry are all 17-19, of course they're tools) but I don't have much use for serrations, so I'm fine.

Is when they look at their dull $10 pocket knife, and pronounce it much better than my Sebenza.

Words fail me, and I just look at them.

Lately, to head off stupid things like that, I have taken to preempting them by saying "would you recognize a quality knife if you saw one?"

Have not met one person that ever said "yes."

Pitiful.

uuuuhhh...who cares? Its the best for me. you can have anything you want but not everything you want or something like that....

Exclusivity. Just say "Well, I guess if you want to carry what EVERYONE else carries, go ahead."
