So, how many pushups can you do?

I do my pushup's differently after a PT instructor showed me these:

Make sure you do Planks before each set of these for XX seconds at a min.
Then--->
4/2 Seconds...So wait 4 second's on the way down, Hold for 2 more and go up at any pace. Observe good form.

15 Reps x 5 Sets should be a great start.

i do 2 sets of 30. i also like to do back dips and pull ups and chin ups.

i gotta start jogging and doings sit ups again.

Anybody ever do Burpies? They are just awful. They are a favorite at the WV State Police Academy.

We call them squat thrusts.

EDIT: And they do nothing for me until I hit crazy high repetitions. That's probably testament to my gym teacher in elementary school making us do them every day...along with push ups and sit ups.

I did 150 in 5 sets with 15 # on my back today. I probably would max out at about 60 or 70.

I do 2 sets of 50/day pushups
3 sets of unweighted pullups
I've gone as high as 6 pullups with 60lbs
I'm 6'4" and 215, but I love my pullups!!!

I do 150 every other day.

Don't want manboobs....

embrace the Moobs man, embrace the Moobs. There is no greater pleasure than flipping a Moob up into your mouth and suckling it, because the REACTION (pure horror) the GF gives is worth it.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

That term has two meanings. In exercise science, we used that term to mean defined pecs as well. I'm proud of my man titties. lol

Sad part is that I know a guy that looks like him. He weighs 440 pounds...and takes steroids because he claims that being fat makes him have lower testosterone levels.

This is a guy that wants to put a Corvette ls9 engine in his Caprice to get 1000 HP. If he just lost weight instead of weighing the equal of 3 men, he'd cut his quarter mile time down. Hell, when I see him driving down the road, his car is lopsided. That is how heavy he is.

40, I can't believe it! I NEVER workout, makes me wabt to though, I seem to have a natural ability. When I did workout I would improve extremely quickly.

These threads are fun, keep em coming.

Truth, right now 45. Was 80 in the Army days. I am talking about how many I can do in two minutes.

that's actually true, being very overweight can even make it very difficult to get an erection.

As for me, 5'9" 225lbs, i can do 50+, 60 possibly. About 2 weeks ago, I did some sets of 40 just to test myself. The first two sets weren't too bad. I, however, don't think that pushups are a great exercise.

Check out www.hundredpushups.com. I stopped doing any type of formal working out since high school. Began a strict regimen of drinking and smoking in college. This continued for 20 years until last year. I quit both and wanted to improve my health so I tried to do some pushups.

12 was the max I could do. I found this site and followed the program. I got up to 75 within two months. Now I do 4 sets of 70 three times a week. Never ever thought I would do that many pushups in my life.

If you dont like the exercise, then fair enough.

But theres no denying that push-ups are a great way of building functional upper-body strength. Chest, shoulders, triceps and the midsection as a whole are exercised.
