I've been into knives for a long time (fancy way of saying the addiction runs deep) and joining BF has just made it worse!
I used to spend about $200 a year on a few knives. Since joining BF in December 2010, I've spent over double what used to last me a year on these beauties:

And I know this is only the beginning! Planned future purchases include:
- Custom CRK Sebenza (raindrop damascus blade, unique graphic, cabochon inlay)
- Small micarta Sebenza 21
- CRK Umnumzaan
- A few William Henry's
- XM-18
- A few Striders
- More alox SAK's

Boy do I need to increase my knife budget!

So how much has joining BF cost you so far?

edit: Any purchase that was influenced by your membership on the forums whether you bought through the knife exchange or otherwise is fair game :D
edit: Just dropped a few more dollars on an XM-18! :D

Not that I purchased all my knives thru here but I got all the info on them on this site.
In the past year... $2800

Dear lord, I want to keep the self delusion up and avoid that math problem... I'm ball-parking $3500

Now that's a GREAT question. I assume you mean all that it's made me purchase (whether directly through the site or making me drool so much I had to buy something elsewhere). I'm guessing $4,000.00 - $5,000.00.

Bladeforums found me my favorite knife after years of searching. So I guess my payed membership actually saves me money. Including all of the great deals around this place.

Counting up what I have now...
$4,200

Not including shipping or sharpening supplies(which I'm sure adds up to another $500-750).

What I'm expecting, pre-ordering, or planning to get:
$2,250

Yessir, it's time to sell some more:D.

I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500.... But on the bright side almost everything I buy is busse or kin which always go up in value so I figure if I had to sell everything tomorrow I probably wouldn't lose much money. And if I hadn't used them I would probably make money. Knives are solid investments as far as I'm concerned.

This reminds me of the other day when my friend commented, "So you've probably spent over $1000 on knives, huh?" I told him that I was sure I hadn't, but then I added them up...

I was going to say under $500. But, now that I think about it, well north of that figure.

i just joined last week and im at $600 or so. Previously the only knife I owned was some little victorinox swiss army knife.

One thing I can say about joining BF though, the information here has helped me acquire a deeper understanding and therefore appreciation of knives and that, in turn, has helped me make better purchases.

After a little rounding, between what I've bought off the Exchange and what I've been influenced to buy based on post/comments/opinions here, about $1,350 so far, with at least $1,000 more on the eventual list.

Way too much would've been an appropriate shorter answer...

Joining was free. Gold Membership was $30. Knives and sharpening supplies?.....

Priceless :D:):D

I'm guessing about $500 per month for me on production blades and customs that are in the works. For some of us cocaine would be a cheaper habit, lol.

Just like I read when I was a newb. The addiction sets in. I used to shop all over and really fuss about a $120 Benchmade or Spyderco purchase. Now I'm heading straight to the Customs for sale and not balking at price tags in the $5 to $600 range. Resistance is futile! :D
