So how much has joining BladeForums cost you so far?

I figure I'm easily into $1k+ territory now.

Spent on a pair of Kershaws, decided i don't like liner locks OR assisted openers, and proceeded to drop what I thought was a ridiculous amount of money on an XM-18.

I figured, go big or go home .. and I haven't regretted it yet. :)

.. and now the collecting begins.. eek.

Over $3K.

"Lookee! A new (insert knife maker here) model, and it is only $XXX! Haven't got one of those! . . . . Just ONE more, I promise!" :D

Wow, I have no clue whatsoever. Before I joined I was buying cheap crap from Bladeauction.com. I then joined and in short oreder I was buying Microtechs by the truck load and custom tactical stuff from makers like Gregg Lightfoot, Kit Carson and Ernie Emerson (and others)

BFC probably cost me alot or more!!!

So how much has joining BF cost you so far?

In the words of the immortal Carl Sagan: "...billions and billions..."

:D

Not really, but it sure seems like it sometimes. I'd say grand total, around $500.-$600. over the last four years; some of which I've sold and/or traded for others.

I'm in for at least a few thousand.

But I don't golf, don't own a bass boat, and don't go to strip clubs, so its all good.

it helps a lot in finding new knives, getting feedback for them and deciding to buy them
the traditional forum is gettimg me into costoms, expensive one so...

I don't watch all the latest movies, I don't treat myself to steak dinners every month, and that same six-pack of beer has been sitting in my fridge for the past 3 months:thumbup:.

I think I might also switch to chicken pasta for 2 meals a day as well:D. Also gotta wonder if I could get some MREs stockpiled.

My first purchase was an $80 Kabar. Now I'm spending north of $200 a week. SOMEBODY HELP!

Way too much, but if you buy good knives, like most of us do, you can always sell them. At least that's what I tell myself.

Hehe yes i know what you thinking Pilot1. UNLIKELY.

So my mum asked me : Do you think you spent like 500 already on your blades?
Me : (Tongue slipped) WAY MORE!
Her: What?!!!
Me: oh now..i meant i have more choices.....:D

With the currency exchange of my country and USA it's an expensive hobby...with a very good ROI.

Bladeforums has "cost" me plenty of money, but it has saved me plenty of money as well.

I guess I'm going to have to be a contrarian here, but BF hasn't cost me a dime, but it has saved me a lot more than just money. It's saved me the embarrassment of buying and carrying junk without even knowing I was doing it. It's saved me from making ignorant purchasing decisions. It's saved me from gads of guess-work trying to figure out what kind of steels are best suited for the tasks I plan to put my new purchases through.

I just went Gold a couple of days ago. I might sell some things here sooner or later, but that's not why I went Gold. I'm one of those types who never wants to be thought of as a freeloader, and since I've received a lot of value for being here, I thought it just the right thing to do to contribute for that value.

I really can't even wrap my head around the notion of it "costing" me something to have direct access to the best makers, both custom and production, the best prices, encyclopedic knowledge and inclusion in a like-minded community. Well, "like-minded" in most things. Obviously not this though.

Bottom line, I make my own decisions and take responsibility for every one of 'em. BF makes me do nothing. BF just makes what I would already be doing easier, cheaper and a better all-around experience.

I really dont want to know or do the math but I know its a few K.

I've been cutting back a lot lately thou.

Bladeforums has cost me a whole lot of money and a whole lot of hours wasted browsing the forums, for sure. Do I regret it? Nahhhhh. :D
