For looks - get a ZT
For function - get a spyderco (I always drift towards the millitary)
For uniqueness - try Alliance Design or a non-mainstream brand
For somewhere in between - try a high-end WE or something

4. Buy an OTF and give it to a vet who lost use of a hand.

Five would be modest fifty IMO is excessive but that's just me.

If you are going to go fixed blade, I’d suggest a Carothers DEK1. $328 if you can buy from Carothers direct, which isn’t easy.

Well guys blade show was pretty cool. It was sort of overwhelming honestly lol. I ended up not getting one more expensive knife but 3 lesser expensive knives that I felt and liked. I got a KnifeJoy exclusive Spyderco Para 3 lightweight in 20cv, a QSP Pelican in S35vn/micarta, and a Cold Steel Code 4 Tanto/S35vn.
