I found some info from the monkey edge guys on the coating applied to this sparrow .

"Ion Bond DLC PVD Coating PVD is Physical Vapor Deposition and is a process by which a material is evaporated and then deposited (coated) onto a surface. Unlike many coatings that are thick and have high spots, PVD coatings can literally be laid on atoms thick and the coating is even. In this case, the DLC stands for Diamond Like Carbon in which the material being deposited is carbon (along with a trade secret of other minerals). The result is a tough finish that is incredibly corrosion resistant. In addition, it just plain looks badass! PVD is not a paint and therefore will not flake off."

Inb4 folks on bladeforums pop up claiming that DLC is not corrosion resistant.

There is a difference between corrosion "resistant" and corrosion "proof". I'm kinda missing what your saying?? Either way, I live in the desert so I have even less to be concerned with.
