I think we can call it now. I suggest the morpho as one of this year's hits. No failures are hitting me off the top of my head, but I'll think on it. Your opinions?

i'm not yet touching this topic with a 50' pole, still got 4 days left .anything can happen, the year ain't over yet.........

:)

My 'Best' for the year has to be the Endura 4. I didn't expect much upon its release, but it has surprised me over and over. Its been part of my EDC since I got one (it replaced a BM 710  ).....no plans to change it, either

Runner Up--Spyderco Military BG-42, peel-ply Carbon fiber.

Worst of the knife world this year:
Chinese Old Timers
Camillus/Becker shortages

Best:
Canal Street Cutlery's Ring Knife
A couple great designs from Bark River
Lots of great customs in the "For Sale by Makers" forum section

-Bob

Best:
Busse FBM
Spyderco CF Military
Spyderco Lava
Spyderco Endura/Delica 4 all varients
BM Morpho
Busse Game Warden
Boker Subcom Series

Worst: what happened at Camillus, the non Strider Buck Strider
Best: ZDP is king, the Sprint runs from Spyderco
Most Controversial: BM Vex

I don't know if they're good users or not, but the new Remington Elite series I fixed blades should win the ugliest knife of the year category. With their amorphous, blobby stag onlays and what looks like a fake pivot pin along with the general ugly shape of the blade, they're like a "perfect storm" of ugly design characteristics all brought together into one knife. :barf:

I'd include a picture, but the only ones on the net are easily identifiable as belonging to a well-known knife catalog, and I'd prefer to be discreet!

Best of the year IMHO? Custom: The Tom Krein Mini-8. Production: Mini-Rukus which is on my short list to get ASAP.

I'd have to say the Zero Tolerance line. Or the 0200 to be specific: Great materials, excellent fit & finish, great price!

Best for 2006:
I gotta say the Scrap Yard Scrapper 6 for FB & Hinderer XM-18.

I would say either the:

Spyderco Lava or Mini-Rukus

As for fixed blades:

I'm liking my satin finished RD-4 with maroon micarta from Justin at Ranger Knives.....

Fusion Battle Mistress... Handle ergos, blade innovation... Best chopper and overall versatile knife of this size.

Designs that set a new precedent in the industry…
Waved Endura 4, Lava.

Knife we’ve been waiting forever for…
Fusion Battle mistress.

Bad trends in the industry…
Good companies shutting down (Camillus).
Mall ninja designs (Dark Ops knives, Bolker Reality based folder, and the like).
CRKT’s continued use of handle materials in their blades.
