So there's a ton of big ZTs out (or on their way)... when do we get little ones?

Is there any sort of plans for a smaller tank-like folder from ZT?

I love my smaller Kershaws, but I'd like some smaller ZTs as well. Seems like Benchmade and Spyderco make little 2.5"-3" beefy folders in a very compact size (with super-thick blade-stock), so it seems unfair that I don't have something like that with a cool ZT logo on it :D

Anything in the works or do we stick with Kershaws for smaller stuff and ZTs only for the bigger?

ZT is the big tough folder line of KAI. I wouldn't want to see or expect to see small delicate gents folders. The box kind of says it all. It's like asking for an economy model Benz or Jaguar. That said, there are some smaller knives coming out soon. The 0566. 0770, and the 0801.

Mercedes and Jag are making Cheaper models now lol sorry I'm a car nerd lol

I would like to see a small ZT. Not a gents folder just something small and tank like. Something along the lines of a Spyderco Techno or Boker Albatros. You know a Smart Car like ZT.

Or like asking for a smaller 2-door high-powered version. I'm excited about the 0566, but I'd love something even smaller. A folder can be tough and small in the same package.

Like the MPR? I see complaints about it on the Benchmade site forum and forum here.
I like the MPR but can only imagine the flood of complaints it would generate here if ZT had something similar.
With a shorter blade and less leverage to apply force, there doesn't seem to be the need for super thick locks and large pivots. That the additional weight is unnecessary and likely unwanted and leads to the ergonomics of a brick and suboptimal cutting ability. There are already a lot of irritational complaints about weight, I cringe thinking if it was the same weight for a blade half the size.

In all seriousness, I had the Techno, the Albatros, or the Benchmade MPR in mind when making this post.

I like both of these. I don't see either of them though as super thick and overbuilt like a ZT though. The unreleased Carpenter model is another good example of these but doesn't sound like what OP was looking for..???

So maybe something along the lines of the small JYD but like the large Ti SG2 JYD for materials? I don't see it in the ZT lineup of the past, but with a high end steel it could be in the future with the path the ZT line is currently on. I'd buy definitely buy one [without a gothic clip! :) ]

You know that's crazy - I was just thinking that a Galyean-designed (and more specifically, a cooler version of the Kershaw small JYD) small ZT would be awesome. Something along the lines of the Pro-series JYD, but with washers or KVT instead of IKBS, a thick blade like the Pro-Series (made out of some new-fangled cool steel) and way thicker scales/framelock than the Kershaw version.

I've owned a small Pro-series twice and sold them due to fear of using them since they're so limited - I wouldn't hesitate to use a ZT-made JYD though.

Kinda ruins the point of buying one if you get only a sample of the brand IMO but to each their own. Getting back on topic, would be cool to have a little big knife from ZT. They seem to have covered all the other bases so far, so why not I say?:D

I agree that the 0350 is as small as i'd like ZT's to get. Too small for my paws, anyway. They have mini versions of the new ZT's coming out later this year. Hopefully that fills the niche.

I don't like smartcars.

I am sure they are looking at the sales of the Kershaw Cyro before making any decisions. Everything is market driven. I would like to see a smaller size ZT. I don't think it would take anything away from the larger ones.

Try a Cryo. Much like a small ZT - with assisted opening.

Already got one - like I said, I love my smaller Kershaws, but there's just something about the over-built, high-quality ZTs with exotic steels and a certain chunky-ness to them that make me want a smaller ZT.

I use the heck out of my smaller Kershaws, but when I want something more over-built in that size, I look at stuff like my Spyderco Techno (and with Ti, you don't gain an enormous amount of weight).

Not a huge deal, I just think it would be cool to have a little over-built ZT to throw into the mix as well (and if it were Galyean-designed, that's even cooler).

I like the 0350TS I bought for my son. I LOVE the 0550 that is in my pocket right now. I am pretty sure I am going to like the 0301 I just ordered from Dave.

BUT I'd love to see,and buy, a 3" blade Ti frame lock from ZT. You see the state right next door to me has a 3" blade limit....taking the 0550 out of my pocket and just carrying my SAK isn't that much fun. :(

Get a small seb then.
