I got my Spyderco Paramilitary 1 back in the spring. Its been my favorite folding knife in every aspect. Yeah, I like some of my other "hard use" folders, but my Para was a real cutter. I mean, splinter picking, fruit slicing, package opening, cut strings off my daughers clothes, go everywhere and do everything knife.

And now its gone.

I was cleaning up some branches that were being cut. I had put a rag in my pocket, and at one point, I threw a large branch on the pile, the rag got ripped out. I didn't think much of it at the time, retrieved my rag, and went on about my work.

Last night, got home, started unloading my pockets, when I realized, my Para was gone. Retraced my steps in my mind, and the only place I could imagine it being, is under a wood pile about 7' tall, and 30' long. Damn.

So, this morning, armed with HEAVY magnets and a metal detector, I tried in vane to find my lost knife. Even recuited a couple of guys to assist in the search. 3 guys for 2hrs, and nothing.

Its gone. Worst part is, I can't afford to replace it right now, and I really am hating myself for not stopping and checking earlier in the day.

That's my rant, and I'm done with it. Just wanted to vent a little bit.

I'll get a Para2 sometime in the near future, but for now, I'm am missing my knife. Alot.

Thanks for putting up with my bitch session.

Sorry to here about that Moose.

There is a place that is about(not sure when) to start taking orders on an Orange Para 2. I like the PARA 2 better than the PARA 1 myself, and orange may be more easy to find. Orange may not have helped at all in your case though.

Hope you can get another soon.

I feel for you. About two years ago I was working in the middle of a heavily wooded middle of nowhere kinda place. We couldn't get trucks far enough in, so we had to lug all our tools/gear through thick brush and at some point in the trek, I lost my Digicam Military- my first military. It was my fault as I should've gotten a new clip, so the knife didn't clip in as tight as it should've as it had been run over by a piece of equipment a month or so prior (heh, that's another story).

Man that sucks moose.I've never lost a knife, but I'm always scared I will.I do the "self frisk" several times a day.

I know how you feel man, I lost my very first Spyderco. It was a first gen Endura G2 steel SE, it was also my first "modern" one hand opening folder and also the first with a pocket clip. Loved that thing, it's the knife that really started it all for me. The funny thing is I have NO clue where I may have lost it, it just disappeared. The last place I know for a fact I had it was at my local Wal-Mart. Came home that night don't remeber using it and then couldn't find it the next day?? I still look for it around the house from time to time but I know its gone for good. It always sucks to lose a good knife.

I appreciate the kind words, fellas, really I do. It helps some. I mean, hey, I'm a knife nut, and I have probably a dozen or so folders, from mild to wild, but none really had my attention like that Para. Not a single thing on it would I have changed, it was perfect for me.

I'm eatin' some lunch right now, as soon as I'm done, I plan on heading back out for another hour or so of searching, I'll take a pic of the pile, so ya'll can see what I'm dealing with. I even backtracked to all the spots I went to yesterday, just to make sure it didn't get bounced out there. So far no luck.

My first Spyderco was an Endura, then, a Delica, then a Dragon fly, a Police, Military, and finally a Para. Of all of those, that Para was my fav.

Damn, sucks sometimes. I'll let ya'll know if I find it.

So, I think its somewhere in here. Man, I'm screwed.

Moose, my Para 2 is my favorite folder. PM me your details and I'll contribute to it's replacement....

...think of it as a late Christmas present...

Loosing anything drives me crazy. At least you have an idea were to look. I would bet if you look hard enough & long enough you have a decent chance of recovering it. Good luck.

Brother, I appreciate it, but I'll take care of it here shortly.

The sentiment is very much appreciated, though.

Mine was the Para 1, I liked it more than the PM2. Seemed thicker and more robust. It took me a while of searching to find that one, and it belonged to geek, a fellow forumite here. Done some tradin', and it was MINE!!!!:D

Now, its someone else's I think.

Moose

You need a knife sniffing dog to go at that pile.:D

So far, we've had 4 guys (including myself) going at it, moved the entire pile, hit it with metal detectors and large rolling magnets. I'm beginning to think its not there. The only other place I was at yesterday, was a Chinese Buffet place at lunch, and if it dropped out there, then, there ain't no gettin' it back. I went and scoured the parking lot, and talked to the staff, no such luck.

I was thinking about it earlier, I think this is the first knife I've lost in 20yrs.

I think you probably would of found it if it was in there. Don't want to sound mean but someone could of seen you drop it and thought scored.:nightmare:

Whenever you lose a knife, always look in and under the car seat, might be hung up somewhere in the metal frame and slider. Bring a flashlight. ;)

I've had the car cough up more than one knife after hitting a good bump.

Just to be silly - it isn't still clipped to your pants in the wash?

I was going to post the same thing. I lost a knife I had clipped in my pocket, and searched everywhere I could think of, with no luck. Dejected, I got in my truck to go home. When I put my seatbelt on, there it was, clipped to my seatbelt. I guess the clip was just loose enough to allow the seatbelt to slide right under, and when I got out of the truck, it must have picked it right out of my pocket. lol

I've lost a couple Spydercos. My favorite was my Burgundy ZDP-189 Calypso Jr. Best cutting knife I've ever had, perfect size, handy, not intimidating. Fell out of my pocket or got left somewhere on a business trip, it probably belongs to some hotel worker in NJ now. I also can't find my first Military, a 440V full serrated one bought from James K Mattis many many years ago. That one went missing after moving to our current apartment so I have hope that it will turn up some day when I go to pack up a jacket I haven't worn in a while or something.

It's definitely a bummer. Hope you enjoy your replacement, whatever it may be!

Im glad I am not the only one to lose a knife to a rogue seat belt. I looked for hours, found it the next day getting in my truck for work. You would think it would feel more noticeable coming out of your pocket?
Good luck on the search moose. The brush pile would seem to be the most likely place to loose it, but don't forget about the obvious places as well (in the couch, maybe under the bed, car).
