So, What’s Next ?

Just ordered a Winkler Field Knife w/maple scales and tribal design on the handle. Should get it in about 4-5 months.

I want a 5.5" long, 0.25" thick, blade in Magnacut so I can beat the crap out of it and hopefully slice an apple afterwards.

That said, I'm hooked on the makers within these forums. These guys are putting out custom products that demolishes production line stuff, for less.

Well I impulsively bought a Microtech Socom Bravo in the normal blade profile. But now I'm thinking I should have gotten the tanto instead.

WE Speedster for me. Supposed to be out end of the month.
..and probably 3 or 4 knives before then. SMH. The madness has to stop at some point, right?
It’s definitely slowing down.

It has to STOP???🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's no guarantee that it'll even stop when we die: most of us will still be waiting for knives are either back-ordered; or in the delivery pipeline...

Here son before I die, I want you to have this list of knives that are on the way... (sees list) um dad you put you entire life’s savings into these. dad; and?
🤣🤣

Well, on the folding side of things, I read that the Spyderco PITS is coming back, so that is on my list to aquire...
Fixed knife wise, I'd love to see some new Becker Content, a BK9L or something like that.
I'm also looking for a 5"ish fixed knife that has the looks and the ergos that I like, but I'm not looking too hard...

As noted in another thread or two, I’m on vacation in New Hampshire this week. One of my planned stops for this trip was a local knife shop (Sawyers River Knife & Trading, for anybody in the vicinity of Conway, NH), which I hit today. Initially I intended to just look at kitchen knives, but they’ve got quite an impressive pile of pocket and fixed-blade stuff in stock. Everything from run-of-the-mill Gerbers, to a $1500 custom looking Damascus-bladed something OTF that had me drooling pretty good. Maybe this is what all knife shops are like, but it’s the first one I’ve been in, and I was impressed. I had been eyeballing a Hogue A01 Microswitch auto, which they had a couple of, and it felt mighty nice in the hand. But they only had drop tips, and I really want a wharncliff, so no splurgy for me today. But that drop tip was a blackened blade, and it was quite beholding.

Best part, the wife was with me and now knows of my new addiction - and she doesn’t even care. I mean, as long as I don’t go dumping mortgage payments on something outrageous. I had the green light to buy that Hogue if it had been the one I wanted.

Anyway, a Hogue A01 auto with a wharncliff blade just moved up to #1 on my list.

Getting close to pulling a trigger - just not exactly sure which one yet. Had my eye on a Hogue A01 microswitch, then waffled a bit about a manual flipper when I got my hands on that really sweet looking Buck 842 Sprint Ops, now I’m back on the Hogue SIG A01, but I can’t decide on the color - Grey Cerakote blade, or Flat Dark Earth. I like them both, but can only buy one. I guess maybe it should come down to the durability of Cerakote vs PVD over color preference. Any suggestions?

So a Kershaw Launch 11 edged out a Hogue this past week. And since it’s an auto, that kinda pushed the Hogues a bit down the list. At this moment, I have no itch to scratch. In the last three weeks I’ve acquired an assisted folder (Blur), assisted flipper (Oso Sweet), cheap OTF (Atomic Defender Mini), and just yesterday the Launch 11, and they more than satisfy my initial wants and needs.

Right now I’m thinking a few very different options at some point down the road, none of which I’m in any particular hurry for:
1, a Buck 842 Sprint Ops. I don’t need another flipper, but that is one beautiful piece with buttery smooth action.
2, a Microtech UTX-70. Again, no pressing need, other than to have an actually usable small OTF.
3, fatten up my modest collection of SAKs. I have no idea why this is even on my radar, because I the few SAKs I have are already more than I need or use. But they’re just so cool, there’s a ton of different styles, and all the ones I’d like to grab are on the cheaper end.
4, if I ever find $450 burning a hole in my pocket (not likely), that CRK Inkiso Insingo with micarta inlays is just gorgeous. I might need to drop a few subtle hints to the family about what a cool retirement gift that would make.

What’s most likely going to happen is I’ll just chill out and enjoy the ones I’ve got for awhile, cos I really, really like these few most recent purchases, unless or until until something calls out to me, whether it’s one of the above or something else I haven’t even seen yet.

Sorry for the lengthy ramble about mostly nothing. 😁

I’ve got a couple of prototypes that should be inbound soon, but probably not to buy. I’m likely on board for whatever Tactile makes next, because they’re just so excellent. Otherwise, I’m not buying many production knives lately, unless it’s a impulse buy…like the damned Fox Saturn Blade Show edition I buckled on.

For the most part I’m focused on modifying knives I already own and love to make them better.

After yet another, and final, failed attempt with the Umnumzaan. Ive gone home to the Mnandi and I’m done. If I ever run across the Damascus version I want I’ll snap it up but other then that the journey has been finished. It was a fun and frustrating 7 year search for the Buck 303 replacement and I’m glad I experienced it but glad it’s over.
