hahah i dont have hair on an arm AND A LEG![]()
Here’s why I ask: Today I was buying a bike (human powered) for my wife. I had my 6 year old daughter with me. I’m wearing khaki shorts, a tee shirt and a hat. My shirt is a target especial with Phantoms in black. Totally average guy (knife enthusiast).
The salesman is un-boxing a part that I need to carry my wife’s new bike on my bike carrier. He starts to poke at it with his car keys. I always have a folder with me so I grab my Spyderco Manix 2 and hand it to him. He then says no thanks and pulls out a Benchmade Bone Collector with an Axis lock. I’m not an expert, but I notice it has the Sypdie hole so hey we have something to talk about (please I’m not a fanboy the spydie hole and the lock helped me know what brand it was). After 2 minutes talking about knives, in a bike shop, he tells me that he has had complaints lately when he uses “his knife to open boxes for customers.”
I know I live in Colorado and that it has a tendency to be liberal, but really. A guy can’t use his knife to open bike parts without a complaint. I know the saying goes the customer is always right, but since I’m a customer there too I wish I could have been there to say that knives open boxes better than keys.
I’m getting off my soapbox, but really I can’t see the problem using a knife to open a box?
Best,
