So what kind of wristwatches are popular on this forum?

It depends on how much you want to spend.

IMO, this watch is hard to beat.

Omega GMT black face and speedy bracelet.

Casio 300m Digital Dive Watch

The only thing that has ever been a problem (that's 10 hard use years) with this watch is the wrist bands will fail. I'm on my second now and the keeper just split. That's why I keep a spare band in my spares drawer. Oh, and I'm on my 3rd battery.

This watch has been in radiation fields, high temperatures, low temperatures, 100 ft. below water, bashed against people, concrete, rocks and logs and has never missed a beat.

I'm wearing a TAG Heuer Profession Dive watch right now but, got my eye on a Revue Thommen Airspeed. That Sinn 6000 looks awful nice too.

Formal: Seiko Montmarte

Daily: Timex iControl Indiglo Expedition

Hard Use: Casio G-Shock Seaman (thanks, Dann!)

This forum has really gotten me into watches, and many other gadgets I never knew about!

My daily watch is an Omega SeaMaster Pro Automatic(Bond Model - 2531.80), only lost 7 sec in the last 4 weeks from the atomic clock!

Now I'm spending way too much time on www.chronocentric.com!!

Hard use watch is a Seiko Auto divers 200m. Great watch, can really take a beating. Seiko really makes some nice watches - never had a problem with any of them.

Currently trying very hard to ignore the Patek Phillipe, etc. class of watches....

I too have been captivated (again) by watches. Currently it is this one.

Now I am trying to stop admiring the Panerai's and the Sinn's.

I just recived a Victorinox officer's rachet for my birthday. I love it. Before that I wore a seiko for 12 years. The battery in the seiko lasted 10 years now any battery I put in it dosent last 6weeks. I have been pleased with the proformance of my seiko overall. I also compared the Victorinox to my father's Wenger and find that just like their knives Wenger just dosent even come close in fit, finish,or function.
It would be nice to have a luminox or even a sunnto. I could never see myself with a rolex unless I were trying to sell it. All I need it to know what time it is on a 24 hour clock.
like they say it isnt what ya got in it it is what ya can get out of it.

I wear Rolex Explorer II 99% of the time.

I also have a Breitling B2 and a 2tone Omega Constellation.

I would have to say, that Rolex does make the best sport watches. While Paneri, IWC and other brands do have interesting pieces, they just can't compare to Rolex.

Some of my faves:

Glycine Airman- accurate, good looking and makes telling time in three time zones a piece of cake

Heuer chronograph- a classic that's still running strong after 50 years

Sinn EZM2- there's just something cool about a watch that's waterproof to 30,000 plus ft

Luminox stainless- glows at night like the Chernobyl countryside

Last but not least, though it's not PC to say so these days, I have to admit that my 19 year old Rolex Sub has them all beat hands down. It's been banged around incessantly, handled hi temps, low temps, cat shots, traps, hi Gs, rapid depressurizations, the recoil of thousands of rounds sent downrange and so much more without missing as much as a beat.

I've got marathon SAR (see above) #141 for low risk wear and an analogue g-shock for work etc.

Luminox 3102 for everyday bang-up (leaves my wrist only for PT when a Timex heart-rate replaces it for runs). One year of 24/7 so far and absolutely no complaints (except for the seal logo...reckon I'm too cheap to pay extra to one of mb-microtech's other distributorships to get rid of it, though):D Three G-shocks and a Seiko Chrono have lost out to the 3102 for the past year because of it's light weight and tritium vials.

Really like the Marathon SAR (already checked broadarrow and CountyComm...sold out at both)--one question if you don't mind my asking--are the hours/hands marked by MaraGlo, tritium "paint", or tritium capsules? According to the above sites, the SAR probably won't be "reavailable" for awhile, but I can always plan my purchases ahead.

thanks,
Glenmore

It is maraglo and glows like crazy. Check the post exchange on MWR, one might turn up there once in awhile...Howard Marx had one on ebay but withdrew it due to a much discussed misaligned bezel...you could contact him directly and take it off his hands :)

Oh yeah, then there's a rumoured next issue of this watch...Bob at MWR is the one to talk to about this. Helluva watch anyway (I've just traded my Seiko 200m diver as the Marathon was so much better)

A little help please.

About 10 years ago I bought what I believed to be a Swiss Army watch.
It has a oval red logo with a silver + in the middle.
The logo is situated where the number 12 is usually situated.
It was bought from a reputable dealer at London's Heathrow airport.

It is a quality Swiss watch according to an independent German trained watchmaker.
The local agents for Swiss watches (with the squarish scalloped logo, say it is not their product????????

Does anyone have knowledge of this brand of watch?
I wear it every day and it has never missed a beat – even when I wore it during handheld mining operations.
Thanks.
