As some of you Dads know how hard it is opening up kids toys these days. The engineering that goes into a toys packaging is unbelievable. So early Christmas morning, what knife will you be carrying to open your kids new toys?? Perhaps you wont be using a knife at all but wire snips, or other tools??

Most likely my Centofante 3.The thin blade should be useful for cardboard packaging.

But the way things are packaged these days,I'm gonna need a diamond saw :D

Probably my Kershaw Talon II.
Hawkbills are great for ripping into plastic packaging.

Probably will use my SAK Adventurer that is almost always in my pocket. My little SOG Access Card 2.0 is really useful for detail work.

I like to keep a SAK handy for battery doors...otherwise a Kershaw Spec Bump

That should scare the packages into opening themselves

But really my Kershaw Rake and Spyderco Tenacious

That's open pit mining equipment, real.

My Craftsman large stockman or my Ontario 18" machete if I hate the gift.

FYI Just a note to all you non Dads out there: The packaging for toddlers toys these days are so ridiculously attached. Most require a Philips head screw driver, wire snips, and a blade.

You are very lucky just to get the toy out without breaking it.

All this security for a $4.99 toy car. Its almost comical that we get a lot of our custom $$$ knives in just a zip lock baggie.

I will be taking a two tool approach. Knifevwill be a Japanese carpenter knife from Lee Valley Tools. Curved blade, carbon steel, decent point... Perfect. But it will be accompanied with my trusty Leatherman. I have found that twisting those plastic zip ties off with pliers to be the best way to tackle those buggers. And the screwdriver bits come in handy for kids toy packaging!

I'm no dad, but they'll definitely be presents for me to open! But seriously, we have our family over and I have a few younger cousins. My Strider PT CC will find some use amongst all those toys.
