So what knife will you be using Christmas morning to open up gifts with??

One of the two.

I'll have my Cold Steel Urban Pal for small wrapped gifts and Kershaw Shallot in CPM 110V for boxed gifts.

And if experience has taught me anything, I'll have a couple of extra knives handy. When the family starts tearing into gifts, everyone suddenly wants a nifty knife in hand!

This days some toys are attached to the boxes with wires and screws, some require more than one tool, unless you use a multi-tool. But gift opening is a good excuse for using our knifes at home. My Letherman Wave is all I need, but is not what I want to use. I'll end up using the Letherman Wave for the wire cutting and screw removing and my SOGzilla or Cold Steel Trail Guide for everything else. I could do everything with the Wave, but why miss such a good opportunity to use a pocket knife?

I think I'll get a gasp or two out of my family (mom, sis, niece, etc...) if I whip out my monsterous Cold Steel Rajah 2 to open presents with.:D.:D.

Actually, I'll also have my ZT 0301 and Leatherman Wave with me for the "easy stuff".:D.

Vic Spirit multitool.

In addition to slicing open packaging, it will be used to unscrew battery compartments and clip those ridiculous wire ties that are all over kids' toys nowadays.

Why are children's toys packaged to survive an apocalypse?

I have previousely used a Vic Climber, but this year I will be using a Boker Trance. This is the second Trance i own. Very nice and useful blade.

I won't be able to use any knife to open presents with :(

I have to fly back to Detroit to be with the family and the kind people at the airports do not trust me to fly with my knives.

The size of my knife is always a running joke at the family Christmas Eve celebration.

It started off with the Spyderco Military several years back.

Things have since escalated. Despite my initial concerns about some people being "sheeple" in the family, it's been an amusing tradition. Two years ago, it was the Cold Steel X2 Voyager that did the honors; last year, the Rajah I was making the cuts. This year I believe it will be a Junglas, continuing my ESEE kick. Time to up the ante. :D

Have a merry Christmas, everybody, and be safe.

Take care and God bless.

KATN,

Wade

i would use a benchmade rescue hook 5 or any of the other ones i find that that tool is one of the best edc for unboxing things or opening any thing and it only cost $20

Gonna use my Benchmade Mini-Barrage this year, then I can sharpen it on my new Spyderco Sharpmaker :P

Probably my BM 943 because it is my newest knife and I want to see how well it preforms EDC type tasks. So far it is passing with flying colors.

People giving me gifts know that I always have a very sharp knife on me, so Christmas (and birthdays) become a "knife vs wrap job" war. This year, it'll be a Delica in ZDP-189, at 20 degrees inclusive, with a mirror polish. Not thin enough to be too brittle, IME, enough edge retention to go through tons of cardboard and duct tape, and small enough to handle detail work as well. Bring it, family, my delica's hungry...:D
