so whats your excuse for not being outdoors this weekend?

Once the temp pass 90 degrees, it SEVERELY curtails my outdoor activities. The heat and humidity SUCK. It's been record breaking heat here for nearly the last month. I work in it, so I don't want to go out in it any more than I have to. I can't wait until fall gets here. Then the real reason is my 3 boys and their sports take up a LOT of my free time. Spent 7 hours yesterday watching a middle school football tournament so I was heat whipped by the time it was over. My 12 year old had 3 kick ass tackles and an interception to win one of the games, so it was worth it.

We're on our 34th day in a row over 100°. I got up at 6 this morning and it was already 82. I'm done with the great outdoors til it drops about 20°.

"I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!"

Seriously, I had to work Sat and Sun mornings, cleaned the garage yesterday, biked 35 miles yesterday and 25 today (in the rain) and I have to watch my little kids from 3 til bedtime...then I get to sharpen the kitchen knives and do laundry.

I usually take a day off during the week if I get the chance...I usually end up at the range, then hiking or biking (snowshoing or skiing in winter). Sometimes I even tell my wife I'm not working and ask her if she wants to go too;)

Sorry to hear that man. I suffered for years. Couldn't even walk on crutches sometimes and wanted to shoot my feet off. I lost 60 lbs. and quit drinking and haven't had an attack since. That was 3 years ago. I wouldn't wish that disease on my worst enemy.

I didn't go out this weekend , but will be gone ALL next week. Shooting, fishing, bushcraft , etc, etc.
Packing right now !!
I don't drink enough to make a difference I could use to loose the 60 #though

Well to put it simply the summer season here has been a total bust.
Unlike the rest of North America we are having a record breaking cold and wet summer.
Its been raining here for 5 days with more of the same for the next seven days.
We've only had about 6 days in the past 2 1/2 months that have been above 65F. It was actually only 9C here yesterday!
Weather wise this is most miserable summer in my memory.

For one I had to work all weekend, but if I were off work the 105 degree temperature and the 90% humidity makes it miserable to do anything other than swim.

My wife just had back surgery on Thursday, so I've been helping her through recovery. I did manage to spend some time in the yard with my 5 year old preparing a fire out of downed tree limbs from a recent storm.

I was grinding, saw Capt America, more grinding, BBQ in the backyard, and then some more grinding :)

theres always next weekend eh :) to make up for the almost total bust of this weekend (went to a rally saturday night, motorsports not political) i plan to double up on next weekend, hopefully get my first bowdrill fire going. as for the weather, its been brutal here also, insanely hot or miserable and rainy.

I was going to say 16 hours of heavy rain but....... :p

OK, I'm 63....160+ round pistol match, 6 stages....92F, with 100+ heat index... slight westerly breeze...4 bottles water, 1 Gatorade, 3 ice teas at Sonny's, A/C WFO, another water on way home, cold shower, melt into chair with large glass of water...kidneys got flushed

Yeah, sometimes I think the header up top should read "The Great Indoors".

My weekend technically hasn't begun yet, but I got an early start.

Met some new people, and made a new friend, yesterday. Hopefully we can hike, or climb again, soon.
He doesn't make excuses, either.

The mailman should be delivering my golok today, my wife and daughter are going out, and the weather is perfect! I am going out in the woods behind the house to continue my bow drill attempts and maybe build a lean to or tipi.

sounds like fun, i work at a seamless gutter company, im the copper go-to guy, been on a big project for the last 2 weeks, yesterday close to where i was working, a carpenter on a roof died of heatstroke.. yea, i'd say its been brutally hot here.. ah well, got big plans for this weekend !

well, I had good intentions. Left the casa early, and drove up to Osceola NF. Found my camping spot, and set up.
Shortly after that, the sun came out, and it got stupid hot. By 10 it was 92F. No breeze. Clouds of dime sized mosquitoes, and then smoke. The forest guys
were setting controlled burns.

I held out until about three, then said the hell with it, and drove home for a cold one.

I'll be out fishing with the warden this weekend. Between metal detecting, fishing, mushroom hunting etc. a weekend at home is often nice.

I went with my 4y/o son this morning.
He's 4 so we don't stay out for too long. 20 min was too long for him. I had to keep telling him we're almost there. :D

Knowing there was going to be fire really kept him going though. LOL
