So which Busse for bushcraft/survival

did I ever tell you I am a master at bush craft:thumbup:

ok, go to go cut some bushes down, see ya'll later

If I had to pick one for a combat/utility/food prep/chopping/big job, small job knife it would be, without a doubt, the Steel Heart Ergo series.

IMO, it's the most basic functional design possible.

There is nothing that you could do to simplify the design.

"Bushcraft", like "Tactical" and "TEOTWAWKI". has different meanings to different people.
But if I were to only take one, it would probably be my HOGSJT. suweeeeeet!

Only one knife, are you kidding me!!! How the hell am I supposed to decide!!!

If you can grab a SFNO, I would take that one if I where you:thumbup:

This all depends on your idea of a bushcraft knife, but the bushcraft peoples have a set style of knife. It is usually a thin, spear point, scandi grind in the 3 1/2'' to 4 1/2'' range, with a handle that is shaped to be held in any postion you can think of (another personal preference).

With the exception of a Scandi grind (they are a zero-edged flat grind, which is close), you just described the ABA. Accept no substitutes.

I love my Hell Razors. I wish I'd gotten some made to my specs while they were still making them.

Sounds good to me!! Which of those two do you want to send me? :D

The perfect mid size blade would be my SHe or SFNO.

If only a smaller blade it would be anything from an E4 or MS, down to an AD or GW.

For bushcraft I use my trusty Felco #2s:D

here's a pic of a log cabin i built using just my game warden

Thats it! I found my next shop! Its even got a "beer drinkin' porch"!!:D

From what knives I have I most often grab the SHe and the AD. That combo does it all.

For a true bushcraft type knife, I would say the Active Duty or Leaner Meaner Street.

IMO, I don't think there is a true bushcraft style knife in the Busse lineup  . This all depends on your idea of a bushcraft knife, but the bushcraft peoples have a set style of knife. Hmmm, an INFI 4 1/4'' cutting edge, .170 thick, full height grind, spear point, zero edge, no choil what so ever , with a handle shaped just like the Game Wardens'...........WHOA :D   :D.

C'mon Jerry, Where's the Busse Bushcrafter :D :D :D !

I got dibs on testing the prototype if Jerry were to ever try somehting like this!

I tend to lead toward a large strong knife, a small strong knife and a pocket knife for the big outdoors.

In the past that for me meant a Straight handled Battle Mistress, a Basic #3 and a Super Leatherman tool.

This year I intend to do some skills practice with an AK, a Pork Belly Skinner and a Victorinox Multi tool.

The AK weighs 8 oz. more, a full half pound, the Vic tool, will be more comfortable to use, and cuts wire much better.

We shall see.

Well ,I just bought a FBM so I guess that is what I will be carrying for a while when I get it. Hopefully everything feels good with the knife I like the fact that it is over 2" wide. And 10" Long. you can't beat that. Looking for a great fit and finish also. Even though I plan on beating it senseless. For 430.00 you should get a pretty near flawless knife IMO. Although Busse has fallen short in this regard in the past. getting
off topic a bit here. Later, Jeff
