So which one is tiger hide?

(Let's see if I can make his head explode...)

uyotg! Quick, what's this handle?

;)

You totally G-rexed black fabric (canvas or linen, dunno) Micarta with a tiger hide Micarta bolster and liner
SCORE
Sorry J, but I've become an EXPERT over the course of this thread :p

Edit: nice score by the way. You have to share its story!

LOL! That's a knife that was partially sunburned while the other half was in the shade. Awesome knife BTW!

:D Nice! :) It's both TH linen & black linen micarta. Very nicely blended by Garth, the master of G-rex.:thumbup:

That one and its dress sister FFBM Bowie variant below were my major scores of BLADE 2008. :)

Here's how it looks wet (or oiled, but I used water for the pic...good thing too, I like the "dry look" on it better):

It is very nicely blended. There's that one band of the black in the TH that seems to continue into the black canvas seamlessly!

That FBM's tiger hide looks very red when dry. I wonder how one of your TH handles that look less red when dry (like this one below) would look when wet or oiled.

Hmmm, it now occurs to me that I need to reshoot #27. It's handles do have quite a bit more orange than those pix let on.
Just tripped over this pic in the album...

Can't check the others to test that theory right now, they are in storage off site, ATM. :)

Is it these, with thick bands of red and black? THE NEWEST BATCH OF TIGERHIDE LINEN, EITHER WET OR WAXED, BUT NOT DRY

Or is it these, with thin bands of yellow-red-yellow-red-yellow-red-yellow-red-yellow-black-gray-black? OLDER BATCHES OF TIGERHIDE LINEN, DRY

(ignore the bottom one, the black canvas NMFBM)

OK, here's another stumper. What is this one? BLACK & YELLOW/TAN (Busse colors) LINEN offered since the 2010 AG Russell show.

This is like tiger hide, except the black-gray layers and the red-yellow layers are reversed, i.e., more black less red!

I have responded with the red text in your quote above. It must be noted that all of them are linen and NONE of the knives you showed are TIGERHIDE CANVAS which is best demonstrated on an FBM LE.

Did someone say Tigerhide Micarta???????:D:D:D:D:D:D

I love the stuff, it is my favourite. Here are some very bad pictures of my knives, but even in these you will see a lot of variation. I like the handles on the FSHLE, satin jac and both meaners best.

fresh tiger on a very rare handle

Very cool Skunk! Now you've let the SAR out of the bag... sort of.
The rare part I am noticing is no thumb notches and no number... I can't tell how long the blade is though, but with it being "fresh" I hope it is a SAR 7 or larger.
