Sabre-ground or full flat-ground SFNO?

The Full Flat gives you more knife for the weight; I'm weight conscious and try to keep my hiking/camping gear as light as possible without losing functionality. If you want your knife to slice + chop then the Full Flat gives you a thinner edge. I also like how the Full Flat batons. I go with full flat on most of my knives, especially for the smaller ones. For the choppers it matters less.

The Sabre grind makes the knife tougher, but with Infi I don't think that matters as much.

Full Flat because I actually cut things with my knifes, if I want/need to chop stuff I'll use a chopper FBM/Chuckette' ;)

Grim,

There were a few released at .27, but it seems they are very well-guarded and not likely to hit market too often. Seems they are the knife-of-choice for the stealth-hogs.

Time for the owners to bust out some pics! :p :p :p

This pic belongs to 360Joules and was in a thread he posted a week-or-so ago. Actually, you commented in that thread. Joules said he had sold it, and that while he regretted it, he was perfectly happy with the regular SFNO because the FSH with the "River8" butt job (that sounds so bad. :D) would handle his chopping duties.

Ha, wow, I'm super observant!

That's a good comparison shot, thanks for tracking it down.

Out of curiosity, I wonder why the SFNO sells so well but SOW sales always seem so stagnant when they hit the exchange?

If you take a look at the pictures below, you can see that the SOW has a LOT of meat taken off in the recurve and extended clip. Truly, the knife seems more like a fighter than anything else, and while some of us just collect, I doubt very many of us buy a knife JUST for fighting. The SOW might cut very well, but with that much heft removed, I don't see it doing much chopping. It almost looks like Ban's beautiful FBM mod, but that FBM still has a LOT more heft for chopping than the SOW does.

Thanks to Randucci and Resinguy for the pics.

I've actually got two SOWs myself (and love em) one has a more exaggerated recurve than the other, but that one you posted looks like the grinder went wild!

I've got a classic red:

And a 2007 SE:

Still, it amazes me that they sell so poorly!

That black one is beautiful. Now, the question is: Do you use yours, or are they sitting in the safe? I have this one:

And it's definitely a queen...but the next one is going to be a user, so I'm trying to figure out what I want. It definitely needs to be an all-around type knife. I want it to be the ONE I carry on my hip when I'm out. The FBMLE and Warden can stay on the pack, but the NO will be on me.

Na, to be honest of the 15 Busse's I've owned (currently own 13) I've never used a single one. They're all safe queens (minus the safe).

Oh man, Grim...

I'm hoping you're playing. My Cultie is my partner in culinary crime. Anytime I'm cutting something in the kitchen, or on/around the grill, that thing is in my hand. It has a nice coating of patina across the entire length of the blade...both sides. It's a great user, even IF it's a custom shop knife.

When I get my satin/tiger warden back, that will probably replace my Emerson CQC-8 as my EDC. Ya gotta use these things, even though they're beautiful...they're just amazing tools.

Pick one from your large collection and use it, man. Make it something small so that it gets used often. I bet it won't be longer than a few weeks before you're thinking hard about which one you'll use next. ;)

If I was really given a choice I'd want a full convex- otherwise I'll take the flat- lighter, thinner edge = better slicer, and easier to sharpen.

Here's mine after throwing it a couple hundred times. its .27 or .28, I don't remember and couldn't operate my calipers now if Itried.

Is that a sabre-ground fatty with TigerHide?:eek::eek: Oh man...oh man, oh man, oh man...

yeah, it is. :D Before I bought it I thought I'd rather have full flat but now I can't imagine it any other way. It chops like a knife with 2 or 3 inches more blade and for any delicate slicing I just pull something out of my pocket.

Do you think a CG (.22) sabre-ground NO would achieve a better balance between chopping and slicing?

Btw...I hate you for owning that knife.:D:D

Hey...are you in Miami? We need to link up, man. I'd LOVE to copp a feel on that NO. :D
