Do you think a CG sabre-ground NO would achieve a better balance between chopping and slicing?

Btw...I hate you for owning that knife.:D:D

Hey...are you in Miami? We need to link up, man. I'd LOVE to copp a feel on that NO. :D

I think a full flat grind would probably be better if you're looking for a balanced chopper/slicer. Should be a thinner edge for slicing but still enough meat thereto chop well. But the way I see it, this knife is a brute through and through. It wants to make the wood chips fly and be hammered thrugh logs that all logic says it shouldn't split. Sometimes I hear it laughing at me, egging me on to try the 400lb australian pine stump I dragged up on my buddy's porch for him to turn into a table.

So, sabre grind for me. But that doesn't keep me from wishing I'd got a ZTNO to go along with it!

I'm not in Miami but I'll be going to Kendall in the next few weeks to see my grandmother. I'll let you know; maybe you can check it out then. Don't hate me though, with all the cool knives you guys are always hoggin, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know I have at least one thats coveted!

Thanks for the info, brother. That is exactly what I've been looking for.

I'm in Hialeah, but teach in Kendall. My brother GentleBen is in Miami Shores (about 7 miles east of me). And ShigaWire4Sure is in Broward somewhere. We should all get together sometime. Ben just got his second Busse...an NOe to go with his SHe.

We'll both be at the gun show tomorrow near FIU. If you roll through, check SAI's table for a tall white boy showing off customized Glocks. That'll be GentleBen. Good guy who does good work. SAI (Security Arms International) is a local gun shop (Pinecrest/Sunniland area...just south and east of Kendall) and the guys who run it are class acts.

So it looks like full-flat won, but I'm still wondering if there's that much of a difference. What I'm gathering is that if the knife might see duty as a chopper, Sabre is better, but if I want it primarily as a cutter, FF is better. Is there any real difference between the two when it comes to this knife being the jack of all trades? Got a lot of votes, but not a lot of discourse.

then lets see if I can stir the pot......

IF its not the Original , its just an imitation! :p:p

The Sabre ground SFNO is simply a living Legend.

the Flat one is just that . Flat

I'm right behind ya, homie (but let's not look at knives instead of posts). Don't get too comfortable, cuz I'm creepin' on a come up. ; )

Btw...got something in the works. Think you'll like it. Forget what we talked about via PM earlier. (Unless there be Muks)

tall white boy. mayn, you brought me that box of croquetas empanadas and pastelitos at the show, so you can call me anyting you want.

seriously, thanks for the grub, and thanks for letting us use your G19 and G21SF for display.

Ha...I bet you ate that whole box yourself. As for the guns, you're welcome. Went and picked up my 21sf after work yesterday. Hope you got yourself some business.

I reluctantly shared the goods. But that's all I ate all day...our spot had so much traffic that I was only able to step away a couple of times: once to get some .45 ammo from Georgia Arms, twice to use the facilities. We got a sh!tload of exposure this weekend...we'll see how it pans out.

Well, then that was for those days when I've showed up at the house by surprise and drank your scotch.:D

I have two sabre grind SFNOs, one of which is my primary camp knife. In my book it is the perfect knife for camping/wilderness use. It still cuts very well, but it will chop and baton very well. Geometrically it should be a better chopper and batoning wedge than a FF. I don't think it is excessively heavy. In fact I take it along even when I'm backpacking.

My guess is that some of the votes for the FF are simply a rationalization making a virtue of necessity, since it is so very hard to find the ORIGINAL sabre grind SFNO

Thanks for the pics, X, and for the opinion. I DO have a custom SFNO (clip point variant with burled IronWood--not like the SOW's) and it is full flat ground. That is a grail knife and don't really see it being used, however if I ever REALLY wanted to try an FF SFNO, I DO have one to try. But I'm really interested in having a user. I would have loved to get one with Snakeskin, but I'd prefer mags on a knife .22" thick, so I will look for something else.

After reading/talking more, and thinking about it even more than that, I think this might be right. ;)

Both the Flat Ground and Sabre Grind are nice. I like the looks of the sabre on the SFNO a little bit better. There is probably very little performance difference between them. Either of them would do the job as a General Purpose Camp knife.

What grind is the SE from Blade this year? As for the SOW, that was one of the few knives that folks weren't fighting over last year at Blade, I was surprised, but once I held it, I realized that it wasn't what I was looking for either. Now Paddling Man's black & yellow beauty is another story. I know what your thinking and don't even go there:D

The SE SFNOs are Flat Ground. Gimmejr wouldn't be fondling his SE SFNO if they were Saber Ground :D
