I baton with mine should the task arise, most of the time when using a BM then there is no need as it just splits the wood with one chop.

I just had a camping trip where a SJTAC did all the work in splitting firewood for the weekend. It had rained for a couple of days before the trip, and when I did find dry wood I had no kindling so I had to splinter what I needed from logs. The SJTAC worked very well!
