I have a large 21 on order right now and in anticipation I'm reading as many Sebenza reviews as I can. What I noticed is that about 90% of the forum discussion or reviews I find is about the small version. This has me a little worried so I'm wondering is there something wrong with the large or if anyone has bought a large and regretted it?

i bought a large classic. used it as an edc for a few weeks and thought it was too large for an edc in dress pants. i sold it and bought a small. it fit perfect in my slacks. the small, did not feel great in my hands like a large. so, i sold the small classic and bought a large regular. i have decided to deal with the larger size and enjoy the perfect knife.

a small is a perfect edc, but the large is the perfect knife.

The small is too small for my hands. The large is perfect, maybe a little big for some, but not me. I will take a large any day over a small.

I had a large once, but decided it was too big for EDC, and got a small. All the Sebbies I buy now are small.

Just got a large regular and I wouldn't have it any other way. I guess it all depends on what you're used to. Before I got my Sebbie I used to carry a Spyderco Military. The large regular feels compact in comparison.

I kept two large and got rid of two small that got less use. I had no problem with the size of the small, and the blade is actually not much shorter. I just don't need to carry a smaller knife most of the time, and if I do, I have my Mnandi and Umfaan.

I don't think you'll have a problem with the large but we do have trade forums and I'll bet you could find someone with the opposite inclination if you had to. :)

At frirst I was into the small sebenzas. I got a large and thought it was too big and returned it. But as my experience with sebenzas grew, I got the large and never looked back. I feel the large can be used in a larger variety of applications and now its the only kind I carry and use with the exception of the Mnandi that I use at work. The slim profile of the seb makes it an easy pocket carry, especially the plain version. Of course YMMV but IMO the large is a great carry and a good size for EDC. You can rest easy knowing that if you change your mind, your large 21 should be easy to sell or trade. You might want to think about getting one of each. And more than likely you will be finding yourself wanting anf buying more Sebbies than you will be able to use for several lifetimes!:cool::thumbup:;):p

Funny thing about the large. It was so hot out yesterday I was wearing light clothes, including a very light cotton shirt. I had my large Sebenza clipped to my pants pocket most of the day but in the evening I was using it a bit, so I clipped it to a shirt pocket. This is the large Sebenza, and it didn't even drag the pocket down uncomfortably.

I went through the same thing, and ended up getting both.
I carry the small reg to work, and the large reg when I'm off.
After four months of this, I can't decide which one I like best.
The small does work better for detailed stuff, or I should say smaller, more precise cutting.

I have several of both. I carry the small Sebenzas, along with my Mnandis, a lot more than my large Sebenzas. Nothing wrong with the large model, of course, it's just that the small (and the Mnandi) are all the knife I need during the work day (office environment).

First one was a small Classic. Then I wanted a large one so I got a Large Regular. Then I wanted a small Regular and bought one, then I wanted a large Classic so I bought one of those too. Then I wanted a small and a large to carry, so I bought those too. I just can't make up my mind. Finally, decided on which small and which large I would keep and sold the the others. Small Regular Unique Graphic and Large Classic Unique Graphic. Hmmm, I'm itching for a new one now.

I find the large Sebbie too big for EDC (with my hands) so I only carry it in the field and use my smalls or a Mnandi as a EDC.

The large is just a normal sized pocket knife. It's not too big at all. It's more 'medium' than large.

i bought small first, then large classic micarta. The small is nice for situations that require discretion (formal dress, first dates, etc.) I typically carry the large micarta as my edc, especially at work or outdoors. They both fit my hand well. I wish there was a sebenza that split the difference in size between large and small.

I have a small now, I have had several large Sebenza's though! I lost my last large Sebenza, during Hurricane Katrina. I had it in a part of our house that was blown away by the storm. I had my small Sebenza on my person during the storm, so it's the one that has stayed with me. But I also prefered the large over the small. It can do everything the small can and more. When I get a little money saved I'm going to get another large Sebenza.

I started with a Small, then got an Umfaan, then a Large Tanto, then a Large Regular.

One funny thing about these knives is that I agree with all the posts that say the ideal size would be between a Small and Large. If the "Medium" Sebenza were the only one that existed, I think I'd want there to be a Large and Small, though.

There's something special about having them in different sizes... like they add up to more than the sum of their parts. I think that's one thing that makes the Umfaan kind of magical.
