Like it a lot. The DLC texture on the handles definitely makes it grippier. Smoothness of the flipper action is just like the others. It rockets out. Very smooth lock bar too.

Awesome. Sounds like I made the right choice. I've only ever had to sell one knife, and that was because it didn't see much pocket time, but sometimes I regret some buys more than others. This one seems like it will be in my collection for a good long while:thumbup:

I'm kinda uneasy though. I just watched a video of someone testing the 0801, and it seems that the edge retention sucks. My 0566 has amazing edge retention though, so I don't really know what to think of zt's Elmax...... Hmmmmm

Let me guess that was jdavis. If you're satisfied with the edge retention on your 0566 you'll be just as satisfied with the edge retention on the 0801. These mostly baseless arguments about ZT's Elmax are tired and old. Read for yourself by searching. Don't base your decision on a single video.

I have a bunch of knives with all kinds of nice steel (M390, S35VN, S90V, you name it), and I'm plenty happy with ZT's Elmax (and every other Elmax knife I have). It's good steel...holds a great edge, it's not hard to sharpen.
Oh I'm not saying I'm basing anything on that video. I was just a little surprised by it, that's all. My research and experience has shown that the Elmax should be fine. But then again, the edge retention isn't quite as good as I'd like on my 0770cf....... Hmmm. Maybe it's just a little inconsistent

I'm waiting for someone to put a satin on the flats of the handle to give the two tone finish that is so popular with anodizations on the original. I think it would look so good with the black blade.

A lot heftier and larger than I had expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I feel like I could pry open a tank hatch with this thing! I love it so far!
The looks are amazing, and I can definately tell this knife costs 170. Everything about is screams 'quality'
