So why my stuff ain't selling

Sometimes the fish just dont bite, no real rhyme or reason needed.

You can post a link to your sales thread in your sig line. This will get you more exposure by having the link right there below every post you make.

If they arent sold by April 4, repost them.

Also, with lower cost knives you may want to offer them up as a lot or give a little discount on multiple knives purchased.

It happens sometimes. Your stuff takes forever to sell, and when it does the manufacturer discontinues it and the going price is suddenly double what you just sold it for. And then 6 years later you'll get an email from somebody asking if it's still available even though you clearly marked it as "sold".

Supply and demand. I agree with selling them in lots. The bait has to be appealing for the fish to bite!

Thank you for your advise, I will repost next month as lots and see how it goes.

My feeling is that the market is for more high end knives, IMHO.

Yes, that was my thought too, but I have seen a lot of lower end knives sold quickly here as well. I am going to try putting them in lots, hopefully they sell. I always bought budget knives but I am trying to get something a little more expensive.

that just made me laugh :D

Things seem to sell slower in the Spring, especially around tax time. Forum buyers will pay more for out of production knives, priced well, in excellent condition. Common knives sell well when deeply discounted. I see many guys buying popular $250 folding knives, then quickly selling them a few days later for $175. It works well for a fast sale, but really raises the average price of your knife collection. Really though, you can sell almost any knife here, with the right price, and good presentation, including clear photos.

Also - the poor photo quality isn't helping you. Use better lighting and a good backdrop (not your hand).

Someone already mentioned that the overall quality of the knives is lacking compared to most of the knives for sale on these forums. Thats not being critical just reality. I suspect you could sell them locally to friends or even passerbys in your area for those prices.

:D lol

I think that many people on this forum are just looking for knives a bit more expensive. I knew I would have a hard time selling my Kershaw Zing so I just gave it to a friend who needed a knife.

Sorry for crappy pics, phone broke and I am having to use and old one. Thanks for looking.
This, in a nutshell.

Those images create absolutely NO desire. Price is secondary. You don't need to send to a pro, but take more time with better, clearer lighting.

I have a tough time with getting good photos as well. I think lower end knives will be harder to find buyer's. You never know what will be when selling. I've see the same knife I'm selling go for $200.00 more on eBay then one that I had just sold.

I agree. I would have zero interest in any of those knives. My draw is full of knives with S90V, S110V, Maxamet, K2, CTS-XHP, S30V, M4 and CMP 20C. I out grew those cheap knives years ago.

Bladeforums sales are presented to an educated group of collectors, and you don't have to explain a lot of things. Quick and easy, if you got the right item at the right price.
