So, you are stuck on a deserted island...

I'd want something stainless since I don't know about availability of oil to keep a carbon blade rust-free. I think I'll go Spyderco's VG-10 fixed blade. I forgot the name. I think I'll also go with the Calypso from Spyderco

Spyderco Manix 2, and my custom Recon Tanto :D

But can't I bring a pretty knife with me too? Gonna need an Opinel to slice up all those fruit and leaf salads

Well the point of my asking was because I wanted to know what knives you guys would choose if your life depended on it. And which knives you would trust to not fail after MUCH abuse. So you can pick the climate conditions of the isle and say which knives you would choose. But the first island that pops in my mind would be tropical I suppose, so salt water would be an issue

Well... Assuming the island is surrounded by salt water, corrosive steel is out of the question.

I've taken my infi steel knives kayaking into saltwater many times without issue. I know scuba guys that carry infi as well, no problem.

INFI is my choice... Basic 11. It chops... It slices... it dices....

With the right knife who needs a folder? :D
