First, like others have said, i use some choice word then i check for blade play then look for blade damage and keep on walking. If theyre were dings or dents ill find them later. Now it has character

Let it fall.....

I know that sounds hard to do, but you have a micro second to think about it, and you NEVER catch a falling knife.

So the very First thing to do is let it fall to the ground while moving out of the way as safe as possible.

I’ve been able to nudge the knife sideways with my boot every time I’ve tried, to minimize inertia/damage. Hopefully my luck doesn’t run out, I wouldn’t do it if I weren’t wearing boots.

The downside to having knife sharpening as a hobby. I think I actually bobbled the knife a couple times before it hit the floor. On the plus side, the knife was undamaged.
So please tell us what knife was worth trying to catch? Lol

Well, in real life I will quickly inspect it and if there is no big damage, I'll continue with what I was doing. "Das Boot muss das abkönnen" :)
If there's a broken tip or any other damage to the edge, I'll take the other knife I'm carrying and use this instead.
I dont usually walk around with an open knife if I don't use it for something.

The damaged knife will be repaired and then used again... There is enough drama already, things can be replaced.

Learned that the hard way, my right foot caught an esee 4 because I cared more about the tip than my right foot, think I chose wisely 👌

You have dropped your knife on a hard surface while walking, what's the first thing you do?

I dropped a Spyderco knife on a not-so-hard surface (wooden stairs), this is what happened. Does Spyderco make its knives from shit?
