Sodbuster...and lots of them!

I just got a burlap micarta a couple days ago.. my first sodbuster. The pattern never appealed to me, but the burlap sounded very interesting so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did because I see I've been missing out. I like the fullness of the handle and size. Now I feel like I need to get a couple more!
Congrats on your Burlap, they're really good knives. Ive been carrying a black Delrin for about a year and i like it more all the time, the action just keeps getting smoother. Your Burlap orobably wont be your last.

I thought I was lucky enough to get an order confirmation for a Blue Denim 71 from KSF. Just got the email notifying me of cancellation of my order. Derrick made a video apologizing that their system took online orders for more than double what they had available. Total bummer. Of all the handle choices with this run, the denim is what I wanted the most. Kind of sucks. Oh well.

Anyone else get bad news?

A few people have reported a similar situation.
Bummer, Sorry bud.

Yep!! :thumbdn:

I missed out too but I am not too upset - hopefully GEC will start reconsidering this untidy selling practice and restore some dignity and respect to the knife buying process. I much prefer taking my time and taking pleasure in it - its a traditional knife and deserves to be treated as such.

More. Yes, always more! I felt the same way about the sodbuster pattern in general. On a whim I ordered the Blue Denim and it appears my order went through as I have not received any notification otherwise. Honestly, I tend to prefer a two bladed traditional in general regardless of the size. So, this blue denim is a bit of a fling for me. From the comments, should I not want to keep it, I should be able to unload it pretty easily based on the interest shown.

Added: KSF emailed me that my #71 has shipped.

I can understand people's disappointment with what happened but I would like to add a friendly reminder that in this thread and other traditional threads the topic must be about the knives themselves, not the politics of knife acquisition or deal spotting. There are other sections of Bladeforums for those discussions. Keep sharing your pics and stories everyone, I'm loving the new run from GEC!

Sawcut RedBone. As good as it gets!

Jolipapa, the sawcut is a really nice one. I have one sitting on my desk waiting to be photographed, one of my favorite new cases!

Chunk, that linen micarta has seen some use! I love the worn and used ones, they're the best!

Very nice Jolipapa!! GEC seems to get the most attention in this thread but it's hard to beat the Case "Sod Buster". They are great knives and they are carried and used by many here. I own a few of them too.

Imo sodbuster and Bullnose are different knives. I like both but I find the Case are more versatile, easy in the pocket.
I have a burgundy micarta en route, but for some reason she just made a touch and go in Paris, now stuck somewhere back in Chicago airport. (I remember when landing there years ago and be affraid by all the cases lying by the tarmac - in fact it happened to one of our crew - I hope they cleared the problem since!)

Well, the Case "Sod Buster" is a shorter knife and does ride well in the pocket but from my point of view they are pretty much sme-o-same o. Anyway, I'm glad you're happy with your Case.

I'ts been forever since I've posted here, and I've gone on a Trev-like collecting spree on this pattern. I'll get some pics together soon. I did manage to score a burlap and blue denim GEC 71 out of this run. Case is releasing soddies faster than I can work overtime to afford them, but I'm getting there :)

Here are some quick photos to hold you over... my stag soddies so far and my GEC 71 collection.
