Sodbuster Simplicity!!!

I like the simplicity, but not the blade shape. I like a little more point on my smaller blades. But the yellow cases are cool, I often carry one in the pocket and appreciate it not being too heavy. If only it had a narrower point...

Sodbuster is an excellent all round knife, particularly good for garden tasks and its blade shape makes a decent spreader for picnics. I have a CASE jr in stainless as I use it for food prep, a German Bull with stag in stainless and an honest rugged Böker in carbon with yellow scales. None of them expensive and all very appealing.

I love the look of a good sodbuster, but as of yet I don't have one. I really need to get one. That large German Eye Sodbuster looks very nice.

Keith Johnson Soddie Jr size, olive green micarta, D2 ground thinner than normal, and stainless pivot and hardware. No lanyard tube, and thicker scales like the Case Jr. Makes me happy knowing that baby is going to get used :D This thing will be a cutting machine!

I started a thread in traditional about getting one, hiis name and a few others came up. Now if I could just get on Kerry's list :D

i really like the sod busters also. where is a good place to get them? the last time i saw one was at a tsc farm store for 29bucks. i would like a lg casexx with chrome vandium. do they make that? nice pictures all round guys. my cheese took my camera from me because we came home from cedarpoint and i had about 20 shots of nice racks on gals walking below the rides. i don't know why she was mad, i took pics of hers too...lol!!!

The sodbuster is a great design with hundreds of years of history behind it. To a young guy raised up with one hand opening and locking blades, it may seem primitive, but the design goes back to the 1500-1600's eastern Europe. It's basic design has been called a peasants knife, shepards knife, penny knife, clasp knife. One blade, a simple back spring, and a handle to hang onto.

The sodbuster is proof that a good design in a tool won't go away. K.I.S.S. is good.

love mine... the way the blade looks cause i use it for food, etc, the way it sharpens up nicely, the shape of the blade is one of my favorites and is an excellent slicer:thumbup:
all around excellent knife, had mine in my EDC rotation since i bought it

Does anyone know who make the thinnest bladed production sodbuster? I love my Queen soddie after I rebeveled it but its on the thick side and doesn't go through stuff like apples smoothly.

I too love my Case Soddies!
Bought two Juniors - one with the SS steel blade and the other with the CV blade - just to be able to make comparisons between the two.
But, they're BOTH awesome!!!

I haven't found any knife that is as good for doing precision cardboard cutting. That thin blade works like a charm...

Regards,
Mike

My yellow Case CV Sodie Jr. is part of my EDC rotation as well as one of my main EDK(kitchen) knives. Great patina, razor sharp, ..... I'm lovin'it! Touched it up a'bit last night on some 2000 grit/ mouse pad. Takes such a great edge! That large German looks good too. How is the fit & finish on those Eye Brands?? Good as or better than Queen?? Better than Case?? Thanks, Matt

I've had a black ss Case Jr for a few years. I got it at Lowe's on a whim.

Wow, what a great cutter! I usually choose a blade with more of a point but have found the Soddie blade shape useful. Lots of outdoors chores get done with it...garden, fishing, etc.

Come to think of it, I may stop tomorrow and get another. Nice knife.
