Hi All, Just wonder If anyone has one and "What they think of It ? " I know they have a Cheap price you cant expect much, Also anyone know where there Made at ? Any Info. Would Be Greatly Appeciated ! Take Care !

If you are refering to the Fusion tactical one, seen them for as low as $35 new. I had one. It had potential if they made some changes to the fiberglass handles. Made in China though.

isnt that the one with a bad rep?

still, i didnt know it was thát cheap!

the fiberglass will probably also not sustain heavy blows from throwing the axe (too hard)?
i know it was my own fault for throwing too hard, but these lil wooden axe-handles didnt make it :(

I think I'm going to get one of these actually. I don't plan on throwing it though. I want it for a utility/crash axe, and it looks like it would do a pretty good job. I would rather a solid piece, but I don't know if I can get ahold of an RMJ Talon by the time deployment comes around or not. For the price, you could probably find a lot worse.

I think it is a great looking hawk and a nice design. I was very close to purchasing one when I saw a post of one breaking in only a couple minutes of its first use. I am sure there may have been a flaw in that paticular one. I decided to hold off and buy something that may be able to hold up a little better. SOG is known for great customer service, but I do find it a little odd that their fusion series only carries a 1 year warranty, while the rest of their products carry a lifetime warranty. Really makes a person wonder.

I think these are designed more for Hand to Hand Combat than a Thrower some TomaHawk's are for throwing some are for Hand To Hand, I've read on some of the High End Tactical's on there spec.'s It say's "Not Designed as a Throwing Hawk" I think If It's used for It's Intended purpose It would last a long time, And do a Great Job, I think I'll give one a try, Thank's to everyone for the reply's, Take Care !

I wouldn't throw it, but I really like it as a fighter. Here it is in comparison with a Vtac.

One of the problems I have with throwing is getting past that period of time where you are sticking maybe 1 out of 5 throws and the tomahawk handles holding up. Once you get into that magical sticking mode the handles don't take that much abuse. One of the reasons I chose the CS Trail Hawk for throwing was the relative reasonable price, available replacement handles, plus it has a good weight too, hammer poll, and can be maneuvered really well.
I think throwing is really a perishable skill that you need to do about 2-3 times a week just to keep that 'magic balance' and being able to estimate the range. I think everyone should do some target throwing first then move onto tactical throwing i.e. "Move & throw"
and " Throw & Move". Luckly where I live I have a piece of ground that will let me practice both uphill, downhill, and on the side slope.
When you add this to your regiment you'll see some neat things occur. Three years ago I was throwing every day, even some at night, and got reasonably good at 10 & 20 feet. The 50ft targets still remain inconsistant. During this time I would hold two extra trail hawks in my left plus the throwing hand. I encountered a problem with actually hitting my own handles and rendering them unusable. Solution, multiple targets. There is some neat stuff you can do with throwing. I know people use the old saying " Why throw your weapon away." This is probably just an excuse for being lazy and not expanding your training. I don't think I would throw a fiber handle. When I get my K-5 I'll let you know about it.
Thanks guys for indulging this ole wolf's comments.

Best

Ever thought of welding a steel handle on it? We do that all the time at work with single jacks and slag hammers.

hmmm
since i cant weld, never tought of that

but seems like a good idea, might ask around for somebody who can

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago because it felt good, and I haven't broken it yet. Done a little easy throwing and hacking with it, I haven't really let loose because the little hacking I've done hurt my hand some. Overall I'm very pleased with what I got for what I paid. I'll probably be picking another one up at some point, my primary use for it is as a thrower, and having only 1 shot, stone, knife, etc during the zombie apocalypse is one of my recurring nightmares. :)

I have a SOG hawk and I agree that it's sharper out of the box than some knives. I don't throw it, but it's a great chopper with that thin, sharp blade.

If you want a one piece for deployment, look at Ranger Knives RD HAWK. Dont go cheap if its your life. Same price will also get you a VTAC. for 90 bucks you can also get a Rogers Ranger from Fort Turner
