SOG Tactical TomaHawk ?

Isn't that VTAC you're talking about just a Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk?

Cols Steel sells them reatil for $59.99.

Not the same. The Cold Steel version has wooden handle and there is the issue with the ATC name (which I've read here in BF once but am not qualified to comment on) which makes me stay off CS' Vietnam hawks outta principle. Although I'd buy their folders and other stuff cause it's kinda cool :)

The one I'm salivating over is this one.

The one I'm going to buy is in EBay but I think linking to EBay can give an infraction under 'deal-spotting' or something like that and I learnt my lesson (got punished once).

Here are few that have been dressed up. Saw these on ebay. Don't know how they perform but they sure are prudy.

Yup I got my SOG outta EBay from the same custom remodeler (if there is such a word) as redscorpion6 shown above. The fella was the only guy who was willing to dismantle the hawk for me. I got the satin finish hawk, very nice even with blood on it.

As redscorpion6 shown the VTAC I'm hungering for is the one with the synthetic handle on the left. Indestructible handle that will remain tight and pretty for a heck of a long time. Also I'm not getting the CS version due to the debacle regarding the ATC name (as well as Mr. LaGana's legacy which I'm not properly knowledgable to comment on).

For my SOG Fusion Hawk, I just wrapped some tennis raquet tape - the rubbery type.

Grip is improved 100% - the SOG Fusion Hawk's handle is a little thin compared to the VTACs.

Having owned the VTAC, Cold Steel Vietnam, an ATC Lagana (wooden handle original run) and the SOG Fusion:

1. The ATC Lagana handles the best as a weapon. Just feels alive.
2. I love the extra 1.5" of handle of the SOG Fusion. I wish my Lagana had a longer handle. Great price - plenty tough for my needs.
3. Cold Steel are ok if you get the blade reprofiled. Moderate handle toughess.
4. VTAC is very tough but it handles like a boat anchor compared to the other 3. But if toughness is your #1 priority then VTAC is a good choice.

Oh yeah, my Lite Shoulder Sheath from Survival Sheath arrived today for my Fusion - it rocks!! The sheath is worth more than the hawk :)
