SOG Trident Problem

Hi guys, I'm new to the site. I've had my SOG Trident folder for about a year or so and I love it. There is only one problem that started happening recently. My assisted opening seemed to "slow down" all of the sudden one day. I can still open it with one hand, but it's harder. It doesn't spring open like it used to. I emailed SOG about three days ago and am waiting to hear back. Does anyone know what could have caused this?

Probably dirt got down in the pivot or the spring mechanism. Good luck with SOG's customer Service, the last and only time I dealt with them, about three years ago, they sucked.

I wouldn't slam Sog just because of one incident.... but anyways

Mine has sorta the same problem, but I checked the inside and there was a ton of lint. I cleaned it, and it got a little better. I have strong thumbs so it doesn't really bug me.

Yeah, it's not anything huge but it does bother me a little. The inside is fine, I really don't know whats causing it. Hopefully they'll fix it or replace it.

I wouldn't either but it was a problem with one knife, a Twitch II, and they sent it back to me three times before it still was not right and I threw it in the trash and never bought another one. And I was a big fan of SOG in the 1980's and 90's. I still have about four left after just recently selling off five brand new in the box fixed blades from the 1980's. Let's just say that their customer service and their new knives are not up to my expectations and standards.

Have you tried putting some gun oil or similar lubricant into the pivot area etc.?

Welcome to Bladeforums!

I'm moving this to our FEEDBACK forum, but I also suggest contacting SOG to see what they recommend. They do have a forum here also under Manufacturers.
